  1. Comparisons to the previous regime are utterly pointless. We won't match the achievements of that regime (barring a miracle) but we can still celebrate what has been a fantastic season and hope that we can build on it. The signs (currently) are at least hopeful that we might.
  2. Think he meant Everton and Liv. it escapes the attention of the self proclaimed geniuses on here, that Stoke, Bolton and Blackburn have all also qualified briefly for europe in recent years.... Don;t waste your breath on them Parky, bro. None of them qualified through league position though. (unless you count stoke via inter toto). We're challenging for a Champions league place whilst none of those teams have come near that in recent times.
  3. Yeah, we're definitely down there with Blackburn and Bolton aye.
  4. Should have been on it so. That said I think 24 is too old for the young player list. Probably made sense in the past but with players breaking through earlier I'd say 23 and up should be only be eligible for the main list.
  5. Not sure we can have too many complaints about the player of the year thing (apart from the fact Parker should be nowhere near the list). Ba has had dry spells and in any case RVP will almost certainly win it. Colo is the only valid shout for the main list and defenders always have a tough time in these things. As for Krul for the young player award, he's 24 so maybe he's too old for it now? If not I agree he should definitely be on that list if not outright win it. Parker's stats for the season: Goals: 0 Assists: 1
  6. It's just creepy when you do it CT. Anyway, I think Ben Arfa is now at the point of brilliance where he can be referred to simply as Hatem and nothing more, Brazil style. Actually I think I'll just refer to him as "H" from now on. (Partially in tribute to the guy from Steps) PS my prediction of this being Wenger's last season at Arsenal is looking well fucked now, maybe by some bizarre twist he'll take the England job or something...
  7. not quite up there with "well i am leaving this forum" or Deano's exit
  8. I doubt you've enjoyed one minute of your entire life by the sounds of things.
  9. I'd say to some extent he is. They're fucking shite and wasted millions. They've won a mickey mouse cup that anyone can win (Birmingham, Blackburn, Leicester etc etc). We have a genuine chance of playing in the Champions League next season.
  10. Blackburn 3-0 down now. Steve Kean is a joke of a man.
  11. RIP tragic news that. Seems to be happening more frequently over the past ten years or so.
  12. Bolton's fixtures (having a game or two in hand as well) are by far the easiest of the teams down there. Looking pretty grim for Blackburn now and QPR if they don't win today.
  13. Aye the stadium was in bits and it was only a matter of time before something awful happened there.
  14. Will be interesting if it happens. In recent years, if Cruyff disagreed with the general consensus of the Ajax board, the board or most of it would resign. That's how much power he wielded. Hard to know what sort of power struggle might develop with Dalglish.
  15. Football disasters are a rare thing, thankfully, yet there is a common denominator in two of them Pure coincidence though isn't it? The Liverpool fans were (to one extent or another) at fault for Heysel but have been exonerated regarding Hillsborough with the blame firmly pointed at the police.
  16. According to a few on RAWK it's Danny Murphy. (From RAWK though as I say so it's very likely to be utter bollocks based on nothing.)
  17. Better scan it in post haste so!
  18. For me, the main reason LTS didn't work was that the Gervais character/persona of The Office and Extras was transferred to Warwick Davis rather than just being Gervais himself. Davis seems like a decent actor but I just couldn't find him remotely convincing in the LTS role. It was also covering too much old ground but I think it could have done that and still been funny, which for the most part it wasn't. Haven't seen Derek yet and wasn't very enthusiastic about it after seeing the advert but will give it a go. Sounds a bit different from his usual format at least.
  19. His three best signings in Speed, Given and Solano were very good though and contributed a huge amount long term but as others have said there were so many poor signings for every good one. Worse still were the players he let go. Also, to say Ferdinand was never the same after leaving us is harsh. He was still a very dangerous striker and Spurs fans remember him very fondly. Still reckon Souness was far worse than Dalglish though.
  20. Us winning, Spurs losing, Everton tonking Sunderland, too good to be true!
  21. Nice to see you used my question about Bogdan Fish, apparently the general consensus is that his jersey is cerise, not pink. http://www.the-wanderer.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?p=717509
