The new UEFA regulations have been mentioned in a few places alongside how this January transfer window has been a record-breaking one in terms of the sheer amount of money being spent. I know very very little about them, but I understand they look to force clubs to operate within their own means, i.e. to only be able to spend what they own? How will these regulations effect us? Will Ashley's cost cutting and investment actually benefit us for once?

Carroll to tell L'pool to do one, then return in a media frenzy where he admits to being paid off to submit a transfer request by Ashley. You heard it here first...
-
Reports are suggesting we have submitted a bid for Bendtner. By reports I mean Twitter rumours.
-
Losing Carroll would be enough to mean we finish below Liverpool anyway, but now their strike force is Suarez, Carroll and possibly even Adams then they can only go from strength to strength.

We need to bring in someone to see us through to the end of the season. We are losing our best striker here, and if we want to have any chance of staying up then we need someone just as a short-term solution before we look to reinvest the money (assuming we even do that). Crouch on loan could work, I guess, but he is just a shit Andy Carroll.

Would be hilarious if his injury turns into one of the recurring career-threatening sorts, mind...
-
Has there actually been anything official about the transfer request? Can't see why he would submit one...are Liverpool really more of an attractive option than us?
-
Of course this whole Carroll thing is providing a great smoke screen for the fact that it looks like we won't be signing a single player.

Good news if true. £35 Million is a lot of money, but with Ashley's record I'm not sure that it would be reinvested well at all. We can build a team around Carroll and Ben Arfa, and no amount of money should mean we let either of them go.

That was from Caulkin on Twitter.

BREAKING: #NUFC have received improved bid from #lfc for Carroll which has been REJECTED.

We really need to be working around the clock to bring in a replacement now. Hopefully that is why there won't be a press conference today. If we bring in some shoddy Championship striker as a replacement then it will be an absolute shambles. Ben Arfa was a step in the right direction, and if we don't continue in that way then we are back int he relegation scrap.

I thought he was in Sweden somewhere?
-
It is almost as if Liverpool are completely panic buying. Appears to suggest that Torres is going. They are just bidding for anyone and everyone now..
-
Hopefully the fact that he is over in Sweden because of his injury means he will be staying..
-
Being reported that the bid has been rejected. Glad about that. £30 Million is a lot of money, but we are probably too short of time now to bring in two top quality replacements.

If I were playing this then I would play as Lyon, so that is my suggestion for you Barney. Bastos/Briand on either wing for pace and then Lopez through the middle who is just outstanding. If you are playing a team with height upfront then take off Diakhate (might have spelled that wrong) and replace him with Loveran (definitely spelled that wrong), and maybe even stick Toulalon at CB instead of Cris and put Makoun or Pjanic in the middle.

Bring back Sibierski?

Can't connect the Xbox up to Live when I'm at Uni >_> Would otherwise be up for it! Will definitely join in for the 2012 ones!

Krul would make a geat understudy to Forster in my opinion. I know the SPL isn't the best of leagues, but Celtic are still considered a top club, and with him playing week-in week-out for them he must surely be good enough to come back and replace Harper. EDIT: Also, Forster only seems to want to stay at Celtic because he plays first team football. I'm sure he would come back with the promise of being our number 1.
