ME TOO, if given a choice I would have long sleeves. But not because my arms are like pieces of wet string.

I'll be glued to the telly at 7 o'clock Saturday morning(California time) live and free courtesy of Setanta who appear to be promoting their channel on DishNetwork satellite programming which I have. I'm hoping for a win, will settle for a draw, and be most unhappy if we lose, buts that's par for the season as always.

How come my photo's there with someone elses name on it

Until Big Sam decides to start Enrique it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he started Carr at left-back and Nobby on the right.

Let's use a little logic here eh! Keane is aware his team will have to play Newcastle at least twice this season. Keane is aware of the enmity between his club and ours. Keane is aware we have a formidable strike force this season. Keane is aware we will be out to bury him in the derby matches. Keane has to be aware he must prevent a glut of goals scored against him by the Magpies. Keane knows he had better get the best keeper he can who is available no matter what the cost.

His leg for sure can be 100% and I speak from experience. Got my leg broken going into a sliding tackle in 1959, the fibula & tibula were both broken, the large bone was cleanly broken but the small one was in pieces and I spent 9 months in a thigh-high cast after having a stainless steel pin put down the middle of the large bone where the marrow is. In 18 months I was back playing again as good as new albeit I had a pin in my leg, only difference was I was a little more cautious when I went into a tackle, but I still made the tackles and was 100% on my game. Not sure about the ankle though, the ankle is an unknown factor. Sometimes an ankle injury can be a problem for the rest of your life just as a knee injury can. A broken bone however can actually become stronger where the break is because of calcium build-up around the break, not likely a bone will ever break in the same place because of the healing process, maybe above it or below it but not in the same place. Actually I think the 6 mil would have been a decent exchange if you consider we paid Ipswich 6 mil for him and have put 8 years of wear & tear on him(not counting his injury time off). Not such a bad deal when you look at the long list of players we have bought then sold at a big loss, for example; Cort:............. bought for 7 mil sold for 2 mil. Boumsong:.... bought for 8 mil sold for 3.3 mil. Viana:........... bought for 8.5 mil sold for 1.7 mil. Bramble:....... bought for 4.5 mil and let go for nowt. At 6 mil for Dyer we'd be getting our money back after 8 years of use, and off-loading a high paid injury prone player who at times has been an embarrasment to Newcastle with his off-field antics. I've always liked Dyer as a player but he has never reached the heights I thought he was capable of attaining.

Not sure I can agree with that! Luque may well be soured by his stay at Newcastle and if so could have a bad influence on the new kid on the block. I think Solano would be much better for the new boy. Nobby may be from Peru but they both hablar espanol and Nobby knows all about settling in at Newcastle and living among the Geordies.

We know you're getting on a bit, but it's not the 50s any more! Being African doesn't automatically mean 'Mistah Allardyce- he dead.' Might of known there would be an idiotic posting from Patrokles in response to mine. There are 5 colours of race listed in books, Brown, Black, Red. Yellow, & White, and frankly I don't care what colour the team captain is as long as he proudly wears Black n' White and lacks nothing in the way of communication skills. If a team captain talks or yells at you be it a criticism, an encouragement, or advice, you need to understand him and not have to ask someone "What did he say"
-
How well does Geremi speak and understand English? Communication is a key part of being a team captain, understanding instructions and game-plans from the coaches and verbally motivating the players on the pitch are a big part of being a captain.
-
In my book I'm afraid he has! He seems to favour Ramage over Edgar & Hunty and that brings a smidgeon of doubt to my mind as I would put Ramage as third man in that trio.

Fergie probably had him watched once or twice, and I think Sam might know something about him I have to think that Smith established himself as a good player while with Leeds otherwise I don't think Man.U would have paid as much as they did for him. And I think the fact that at one point he was chosen for England would indicate that others thought he had some merit, including Sam who has now brought him to our house.

Now you have to wonder if loaning Krul out is going to back-fire on us, unless there is a come right back if we need him clause in the loan agreement. If Given has to have surgery and Harper gets injured I think Krul should probably be No.3, he did excepionally well in his debut.

Anyone got the feeling we're going to be good this season?
Noelie replied to Row Z's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think that with the new signings plus the players already onboard it will prove to be a better season for us. I can't see us losing games we should have won like we did against worse teams last season. With the likes of Barton, Smith, Taylor, Butt, Milner, Solano, Viduka, Geremi, I can't see a shortage of bottle and hopefully Rozey and the boy from Brazil will give us that extra pint. -
It most certainly has JawD, and I hope all the latest talk in the papers about other targets comes true.

Perhaps you should get a fucking grip, and perhaps you should look at who other clubs have signed as defenders, for how much, and what calibre they are. Sensible queries should perhaps get sensible answers. I already did so. Hence my post. Which you responded to by repeating exactly what I'd said. You're playing very much into my argument's hands here- I looked at the other clubs, and who they'd signed as defenders, and for how much, and for the calibre they are. Suffice to say, I'm not slitting my wrists, here. Patrokles, are you joined at the hip to Leazesmag?.......that reads like something out of his book. When two people who are entirely different level the same criticism at you, perhaps it's not them you need to be looking at? Pray tell me who the other person is who is entirely different from you and who has leveled the same criticism at me as you have done, for the life of me I can't see anyone who matches you in your approach. I didn't start this topic to promote any angst, I just asked what I thought was a simple question that would invoke some discussion as to what other members ideas were as to why we were having a problem signing defenders but apparently I get up your nose and you have to try and belittle me which is not the smartest of things to do. Use some sense, back off. Are you stupid? That's twice now you've posted something that has been answered a post or two above. In this case, since you're obviously a tad slow, the answer to your question is Leazes. I haven't tried to belittle you, btw. You've managed that beautifully by yourself. Peas in a Pod - Patroles/Leazesmag. .....Am I stupid? .....I must be for even bothering to rebut your drivel.

When is the actual question part of this post coming? All I see is a huge long setup but no actual question. Dopey old shite. Maybe this dopey old shite is too articulate Mr.Gemmill, I would have thought that any sentence beginning with 'Why' would constitute a question being asked. In a nut-shell, with all the plusses we have that I have listed WHY are we having problems getting defenders. I don't fully understand WHY.
-
Correct in what way? Sam has previously stated he has been unable to get the players he initially wanted due to transfer activity all around. Some decent defenders have been signed by other clubs, but that's a matter of opinion isn't it. Maybe we are skint. Perhaps you should get a fucking grip, and perhaps you should look at who other clubs have signed as defenders, for how much, and what calibre they are. Sensible queries should perhaps get sensible answers.

......too old and feeble of mind and my ability to comprehend given situations has diminished and is irretrievable so perhaps someone could help me understand WHY. Why a long established famous club such as ours based in a one team city, a big club in a great city, with a great stadium and supporters second to none, a club noted for paying good wages, with brand new owners, a new manager with new ideas, a club that currently seems to have difficulty signing defenders when other less glamourous clubs don't, when defenders are apparently the main need to become successful?

Zoggy does appear to have somewhat of an attitude problem if things aren't to his liking and if you couple that with contract disputes, ego, following traits we have seen in other French players who have been at Newcastle, plus the fact that mid-field players aren't what we are short of, I wouldn't be completely surprised if Zoggy left. Mind you I'd be very disappointed.

Same as Ameobe, tall but no height to his game.
