  1. HOY watch yer gob Meenzer, aa resemble them theor remarks.
  2. I kinda knew we wouldn't get him as there were no real positive vibes from either Sam or him that gave the impression that we were in contention and let's face it, at the moment Chelsea has a more attractive appeal than we do. In a way I hope he ends up as a bench warmer like Parker, Duff, & Wright-Phillips and lives to rue turning his back on us. Shame we didn't get him but I'm sure we'll be in for more disappointments while the window's wide open.

    Claim to fame

OK! Shook Jackie Milburn's hand when he visited the BBC Boys Club in Gateshead, late 40's. Introduced to Peter Beardsly in Los Angeles by Robbie Willis who played on a youth team with him. Stayed in a mountain cabin for a long weekend and Mike Mahoney, wife & daughter, were in the same cabin. Very good friends with Jean Southern of Dirty Dusting, Harry Potter, Byker Grove, & Cookson movies. Been to parties and friends with Bob McNab(Arsenal & England) Clyde Best(West Ham) Peter Wall(Liverpool,Crystal Palace) Mike Mahoney(Newcastle) Gerry Ingram(Blackpool,Preton, Bradford) Jimmy Hinch(York City, Tranmere, Sheff. Wed) Introduced to Julie Andrews and her husband when they visited the boat company where I worked. Introduced myself and shook the hand of Bobby Robson at SJP 5 days before he was fired......my fault????
  4. In situations like this it is usually comes down to the letter of 'intent' to be determined by a neutral party.
  5. I can't help but think that Owen will have serous thoughts about deserting after we paid 17 million for him and the return has been about 14 games. I think he will understand how his leaving under the so-called clause would cause some severe damage as to how people would assess and look at him, and I don't only mean Newcastle supporters. If pride plays a part, and his not wanting people to think he is a dis-loyal, money-hungry, glory hunting prima donna, then he might just stay.
  6. WELL it's noo Sat'duh an ownly one in!! WELL is Barton coming or not? aa'd like te knaa fer sure cos aa'm fed up wi the palarva. WELL alright, aa knaa this topic wasn't brilliant but hey!!
  7. Glad we won. Glad Joe Cole scored. Glad Crouch scored. Glad wor Michael scored. But certainly not glad about the disappointing display England put forth after the Brazil game. Thought Shorey deserved another start after his good performence against Brazil. Lampard was again anonymous for most of the game.
  8. Well, if he has a physical at St.James and passes then West Ham won't have to bovver wiv one. Well, the Hammers seem to be in contention for him. Well I read that in the paper, and Barton can apparently talk to both of us.
  9. Well I never, it's Tuesday. Well it seems like we've agreed summat on principle about Viduka. Well it's all very well for the Press to say that but Viduka hasn't agreed has he.
  10. Glad he got the 2 year contract he was looking for. I can understand why he wouldn't want to up-root his family based on a one year, changing kids schools is not always a good idea on a short-term basis. He did an 'alright' job for us at a time when we needed someone to give it his best shot, he has my thanks for his efforts and I wish him good luck at Wigan.
  11. I think that sometimes a person's double-life standards are taken out of context. If the best heart-surgeon in the world was a wife-beating, child-molesting, gay-bashing moron, I think I might just want him hovering over me with a knife in his hand if me ticker was on the blink.
  12. WELL, thought it would be clear enough that I really thought we would have signed someone before the end of the day and was a tad disappointed that we didn't so I thought I would start a 'Three Well Saga' topic whereby anyone could express there thoughts along the same line using the same format of 3 wells.
  13. Three Well Saga. Aa'm forst. Well, here's Monday come and gone. Well, I thought someone would come aboard. Well, it just goes to show what a dreamer I am. Whe's next?

    Ameobi

Occasionally there were glimmers of Ameobi being our next long term No.9 but sadly enough he does not have that killer instinct needed. Sometimes he has nice touches and can take people on but never seems to accomplish much and often goes towards heavy traffic instead of moving away from it. What bothers me most is his lack of ability to win more high balls, it's like midgits can out jump the giant. I would have thought his size would be an attribute to out muscle defenders but it doesn't happen and that ties in with the lack of killer instinct. I would love to be wrong and he could turn out to be a first-team starter but I see him as a bench-warmer or out the door.
  15. Joe Cole had a good 1st half but he tries to do too much on his own. Shorey had quite a good game throughout. Beckham didn't do too bad. Good to see more biting tackles by the defence in the 1st half. Smith didn't accomplish much, poor control. Owen didn't do as well as he could have with what balls he got but he was trying. Dyer looked sharp enough the time he was on. Robinson can be a bit dodgy at times. Got even more doubts about McClaren. Wrong substitutions at the wrong time. Will he ever see that Gerrard & Lampard don't compliment each others style of play. Should have taken Smith off earlier and replaced him with Crouch. Can't believe he played Jenas ahead of Carrick, especially when we had the lead. Should never have taken Terry off and put Brown in. Brazil had the better of the match but we could have stole the win had it not been for piss-poor defending 2 minutes into stoppage time. Don't think it would have happened if Terry had still been on the pitch. Worst thing about being an England supporter is being a Newcastle supporter to boot, sorta like pouring salt in an open wound.
  16. I like Parker, I don't want him to leave. He's my kind of player, gets stuck in, doesn't take prisoners. I think he can do much better for us, I think there are too many boo-boys booing. I think his poor performence is linked to overall poor team performence. He's young and has some talent which needs to be coached to a higher level.
  17. capital idea if yer a lazy sod.
  18. Mr.Renton, I have it on good authority that he has a mam & dad so calling him a bastard is not appropriate, perhaps prick, asshole, or waster would be better suited.
  19. .......that there is already action in teams acquiring players and we don't even know if Owen, Emre, or Martins will be with us when the season starts. If Allardyce has met with Owen and had a talk, surely he would know what's happening. I can't see Allardyce being a person who would let Owen ponce around creating more media-hysteria as to what he was going to do.
  20. Considering the comments implying lack of support for our National team and English teams playing against foreign teams leads me to say, albeit with tongue in cheek and tin-hat on, "Attitudes that lost us the fucking Empire"
  21. I must admit I felt Milan would win and must confess I wanted them to. But why, why would I ever want a foreign team to beat an English one? Even if I have feelings of dislike for certain home-land teams surely I should want English teams to prevail over the foreign ones, especially the Wops and the Krauts who evoke feelings that go back and way beyond football. Well at least for me they do. It's a difficult equation to fathom but shouldn't we have feelings of patriotism when one of our own take on the foreigners? Shouldn't we put our feelings aside and cheer the flag regardless of who is carrying it?
  22. Shure ye are paddy cos the 'Pool is in loine to be capital of Oierland arfter Glasgie.
  23. Can't agree with you there gram, as Cup-finals go it wasn't too bad. I've seen a lot worse on many occasions, especially the ones expected to be a cracker and were flat and boring from the kick-off.
  24. Under the circumstances it was a good decision to bring him back, he was a known performer, popular with a lot of fans, and was called upon to fill in on two occasions, and that's what he was brought in for should the occasion arise. Good-Luck Pav.
