    The IRA

So theyre gentlemen if they wear smart footwear but stick a terrorist in sandals and its a different matter altogether.
  4. Thats how I read it ie this year our income will equal outgoings.
  5. Why would the negative side cling to their negativity if we bring in 3 0r 4 first team decent additions. Thats just silly. I would hope your side would be big enough to say no more maoning, we're looking good. Define 3 or 4 decent first team additions. If we bring in 3 or 4 proven Premiership quality players and dont lose the likes of Enrique, Tiote, Barton, Colo then yes I'll be saying that we're looking better. We all (except you and TN) know that in reality we're more likely to bring in 3 unproven players from the Championship or below/ small scale Europeans and lose any 2 from the above list. That wont be progress however you see Enrique as on the "wain" and N'Zog as being an excellent replacement at LB so its more than likely you'll find some reason to celebrate that scenario.
  6. Or {insert name of aspirational club here} have said the deals lowered if hes going to be suspended at the start of next season. Saying that I dont think hes off this window. Hes our big January sale, with HBA being next Summers.
  7. Id rather invest that £10,£20,£50m each year and watch it increase. Investing the profits properly will increase the quality of the pitch which in turn increases the league position which as a result increase profits. It might take 5 years to get up there but frankly under the current plan it'll take a hell of a lot more as we're not doing anything to increase the revenues for us, SD meanwhile go from strength to strength. Fabulous advertising at ridiculously cheap rates.
  8. Based on what? Ive yet to see a game where he shines and its obviously not showing in training when he cant even get in ahead of Lovenkrands. Thats another being used in the lowering expectations stakes, "Im sure the fans will see Shola and Peter in a different light now" said as if we were all now to be convinced he was a top Premiership striker based on his performances this season.
  9. The glamour of the cup died for me in 98. Before that Id seen Wembley as this fantastic place, with Wembley Way being a huge tree lined avenue. When you get there and find its a concrete underpass it loses all the magic the BBC helicameras gave it. Watching your team lose twice in a row then cements it. Saying that, Id give my left leg to be in their shoes now, Id also give my right arm to be ambidextrous
  10. Christ, reading that youd think he was the most promising talent since Rooney. With that in mind we don't need to buy a forward... And so the lowering of expectations continues

Im not sure it does, maybe riding a motorbike in Thailand could be classed as living life to the full. RIP to this kid though
  12. I have a strange issue with Firefox on one PC. toontastic and only toontastic goes to pot in firefox, its fine on Chrome, IE and Opera, its fine on Firefox on the other machines but on this one PC it doesnt show any images at all. I thought all the obvious things like "are images switched on" etc but like I say all other sites display fine. I thought it would be ok to use without the images but then realised all the buttons were missing so I couldnt post or reply. I updated it to version 4 and it was still the same. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh copy but still nothing. Got me beat it has.
  13. tbf thats quite a feat to misspell feet.
  14. I think the Beatles had more than just the music, their sense of humour and the resulting films made them even bigger than just the music alone. Cant imagine Ray and Dave ever getting that level of interaction that all 4 of the Beatles had on screen.
  15. I woudl suggest that Man U, Arsenal and Spuds would tend to disagree, and any number of continental teams also patently know nowt about football. They don't do it as a primary objective in the case of the three English clubs. There is nothing wrong with signing players with a potentially high resale value but the teams do this because they want young, hungry players rather than hasbeens or people who have lost their drive and focus. I would suggest we do it largely with potential profit in mind. I expect this to be backed up when Tiote leaves over the next 12 months. I seriously doubt our scouting network is anything like the 3 sides you mention either. French clubs are a different matter because there is less money there and good players will eventually want to play for more high profile teams in more high profile leagues. Spurs did, that's how they got their money to progress, they may not have stated it but I would suggest that the mainstay of their (all three mentioned) buying strategy is resale value (with the odd exception - Berbatov for example), if it wasn't, how do they make transfer profits all the time ?? It's one of the few ways left they can raise their revenues as just about all else (outside of TV dosh) has stagnated over the last three years. I havent spent any time looking at Spurs so I cant agree or disagree that logic but one thing that does differ is the logic behind doing it. We appear to be buying cheap with our aim being to selling on at a profit while Spurs looks more like "buy good players we want and if we decide to sell or are offered silly money then we make a profit." EDIT: Just realised Ive basically repeated what Alex said above
  16. Got to admit I dont go with this "Dont play Tiote in case he picks up a card", its more important that we get results now than at the start of next season. Technically, if all results went against us for the last 2 games then we'd end up 16th. A drop of 5 places is a hell of a difference in our season. Plus Tiote could simply end up suspended for some other club at the start of next season, if so, then ideally we play them in one of those suspended games win/win tbh
  17. outside of that article its refreshing to see a club website that isnt there primarily to sell tat. I know a lot of work went on to redesign it and fans groups worked with the web designers to make the site part of the wider MCFC community.
  18. If there was any way for it to end with neither winning, it'd be nice. Hopefully it'll end in a 0-0 draw, go to extra time then penalties and remain permanently locked together until both teams die of exhaustion. They then award the cup to the first team who fall alphabetically between the two that hasnt yet won anything. Almost Perfect, only made better if the heat exhaustion affects the fans as well.
  19. ? What'd they do Am I just being thick as mince or have I missed summat? Actually setting up and attempting dialogue. Its the proper thing to do but what it did was take the heat off the club and reduce the chances of protest at the move. By then continually moving the goalposts on the decision about moving people they were able to slowly let it die off without any major kick off. Now the first people will know that L4 isnt going to happen is when that letter drops through the door telling them theyre in Gallowgate Upper Tier or somewhere.
  20. I see UtdForNewcastle are now realising that theyve been had. Its a shame because theyve worked hard on it but doing what they did played right into Dekkas hands.
  21. ahem I was right about a vast number of things. Hideously wrong about relegation from Champiosnhip, I'll give you that like
  22. ahhh vital football, the only thing thats vital is the pinch of salt,
  23. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/7615655.stm so thats 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 at £20m per year with another 20m this year and next and the year after. Now to me the words "bank roll" mean give, not lend. Thats backed up by the last sentence ending with "and not expect anything back". Again if you dont expect anything back then its a gift, its being given not a loan. Interest free credit from DFS isnt advertised with the words "we give you a sofa and dont expect anything back" So by that logic he should have put in £80m which means that if we take the full £140m into account hes lent us a further £60m (which frankly should be written off because thats how much relegation cost us, but thats a different argument). The 2nd option is that we owe him nothing and hes behind on his payments. The £70m to clear existing debt could be argued as not part of the running costs, it should have been advertised properly by Hall either paying off the debt then selling for £200m or advertising it for £132m + take on debts. If the former then the inclusion in the sale price would mean the cost wasnt passed onto the club. Aye OK By that logic the debts he did pay off saved the club £7Mill a year in interest which would be a total of £28Mill, so we owe him another £8Mill So are you disagreeing that he lied at the start when he said hed "bankroll" the club to the tune of £20m per year? Youre saying that means lend? I wish I could have fun that way, is it fair to say that my ST payments are simply a loan that I expect back at some time?
