  1. We stayed over night in the lake district, went to Kendal and Windermere then headed for Glasgow (urgh) then followed the Trossachs trail up to Oban and back to Loch Lomond, really stunning views
  2. got back today from my first trip to Scotland, gotta say....TROSSACHS!!! Glorious scenery I wasnt expecting it to be so stunning tbh.
  3. thats just awful. literally one second he's smiling at the ref and the next he's on the deck dead. players crying, ambulance on the pitch but he's already gone. Heres the F1 video, tis quite shocking though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORs-8GT6SMU
  4. I think it's important to understand what people are capable of. It sounds like I may have seen the same one described; numbing, gut-wrenching, can't really describe how bad it was to watch. yes i watched that too, i have no idea why, remember feeling sick, really sick....i dont think i watched it all, i honestly was heaving. I recently watched a very sad video on youtube, clips of F1 driver's fatal crashes, it really upset me but i did watch it to the end I felt that showing some of the footage seemed distasteful and unecessary though. I do have the link if anyone wants to view it. But i wont watch it again myself. The most horrific part of it for me was watching a driver trying to put out a huge fire in order to get a fellow driver out, it was heartbreaking to watch, you could feel his complete frustration.
  5. heres just a few songs that move me U2-Luminous times / one Floyd-Hey you Johnny Cash- Hurt Muse- Unintended Athlete-street map William Orbit- Adagio For Strings Robert miles- children ( Torquay run out to this, always stirs me up) Jerusalem And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among these dark satanic mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold; Bring me my arrows of desire; Bring me my spear; O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land.
  6. We're (Torquay) doing pretty well. Same as usual, we normally have a good season then a bad one. Ian Atkins was bought in end of last season and managed to keep us up with a brilliant late run. Now we're doing ok, gutted today though, winning 3-2 away at Macclesfield and let in a late goal. 7. You're right though, i should work for the Torquay tourist board! If Steve was coming here for any length of time, i'd probably say try and live on the outskirts of Torquay, We're looking to move to one of the small villages on the out-skirts, Stokeinteignhead.
  8. very true mags, im glad to see you remember the lingo We're full of grockles and old folk. Great football team though Steve, just a general reply for you. Torquay isnt as pleasant as it once was (sigh) (mainly due to scousers and 'others' invading the place) we also have quite a drug problem here for such a small seaside resort but if you like beaches and stunning coastal scenery you might just like it here. The towncentre itself is ok, very near to the hospital and has lots of eating places and pubs. If you're into clubbing, theres not a great deal of night life as such, most clubs being around the harbourside, which i avoid fri and sat nights as its full of drunken kids! Depends what you like really, this is my favourite time of year down here, almost all the grockles have pissed off home, kids back at school and its fairly peaceful. (some might say dead) On the plus side, we are very near to some beautiful beaches and lovely places ti visit if you can whilst you're here, like Dartmouth, Salcombe, Dartmoor etc. So if you like walking, cycling, sailing, fishing and general outdoor pursuits you're in! On the minus side, you may get bored and find not enough to do, depends what you like. Property to rent is expensive and not plentiful, does your job come with accomodation? Just wondered, as there is a new apartment block very close to the hosp which i think is chiefly for Torbay hosp staff and looks ok. There are of course one or two areas to avoid living in but all towns have those! Public transport isnt great and cost of living is high here. But if its only a month that shouldnt affect you. I'd say give it a go, we even have a football team, so thats your saturday afternoons sorted! Any questions i'd be happy to help. webcam of seafront road between Paignton and Torquay http://www.torquaywebcam.com/ And Torquay harbour http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/webcams/torquay_webcam.shtml
  9. New? But yes i stil post here, so fire away with your questions steve. I live very close to Torbay Hosp.
