1. Hes not that great a reporter tbh, before the match kicked off he didn't even know that Martins had actually signed.
2. Is this you planning how to get the money together for the season ticket?
3. I'd rather ditch Huth or Gravesen or both if necessary in favour of another striker. Huth and Gravesen would cost us £6-7m. Which would be more than enough for someone like Nugent. 183348 Gravesen is a luxury that I question if we can afford, however Huth or any other defender is needed just as badly as a striker is. We currently have 6 on our books and even the majority of them are absolute horseshit, if we get any injuries or suspensions at the back we are going to be f*cked. At least up front we may have 3 to choose from with Luque, Ameobi and Martins, plus several others who can do an emergency job if needed (Duff for example). Unfortunately we have no such options at the back and if players are not signed soon it looks like we may be seeing a hell of a lot of Ramage this year
4. Transfer Rumours Portsmouth are trying to hijack Newcastle's move for Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins. (Star) Thomas Gravesen has told Newcastle he wants to sign for them. (Star) Manchester United are prepared to wait for Hargreaves - even if that means they miss out on their fall-back option Marcos Senna of Villarreal. (Times) Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is confident he will persuade unsettled Czech striker Milan Baros to stay at Villa Park. (Guardian) Reading have told Middlesbrough they have no chance of signing Steve Sidwell. (Sun) Middlesbrough are also after highly-rated Preston striker David Nugent. (Mirror) And Boro could seal a loan deal for Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate. (Mail) Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is pondering a move for £10m-rated Cadiz striker Lucas Lobos. (Independent) Former Real Madrid star Luis Figo wants to play in England. (Star) Tottenham and Portsmouth are tracking Roma defender Sammy Kuffour. (Star) Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis will walk away with £300,000 when Randy Lerner completes his takeover of the club. (Star) FUNNIES Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney apparently keeps fiancee Coleen McLoughlin entertained... with catchphrases from Little Britain and the Catherine Tate Show. He is often heard screaming "I'm a lady" and also mimics chav schoolgirl Lauren's catchprase "Am I bovvered?" (Star)
5. Really? I think the derbies are a fucking nightmare. You wake up on the morning of them a total nervous wreck, always in fear no matter how bad Sunderland are, there's that inkling that they just might beat you and the embarrasment will be far too much to take. Then when the kick-off finally does come, it's 90 minutes of pure purgatory, even though you go one goal up, you always expect it to go horribly tits-up somehwere along the way and it will be far too much to take. 183268 And all those things are part of what makes supporting a football team "exciting"..
6. I especially agree about Hasselbaink, he would have at least been some decent cover and eased the pressure on the striker front. Even with Martins we are still at least one striker short. 183213 I'm also still trying to work out the logic behind not making a move for Sol Campbell especially when what we have saved on Boumsongs wages would have paid for the majority of Sols.
7. From .com on their report of Boumsong departing. I know Viana wasn't here last season and fingers are crossed that we can tie up a deal with Martins, but considering last season it was evident we were short on numbers and Owen being out all season, who knows what will happen with Dyer and Clark supposedly not really being part of the first team squad this season I pray we don't get many injuries. Closer look at the squad it seems that we only have 6 first team defenders and two of them are relatively inexperienced in Ramage and Taylor and two strikers one of which does not appear to be rated by the manager...
8. Having just made it into 6th place in the last game of the season, I have just won promotion to the Premiership in my first season. David Kelly, who I got in through exchanging Kevin Brock, scored the winner at Wembley... *Signed a young Warren Barton, has pretty poor stats but has been fantastic for me all season and I have knocked back bids of 1.5 million already even though I paid 85k*
9. Whilst I do not see it happening, I'd get rid of Milner and bring Malbranque in instead...
10. I expect to see the likes of Huth and Distin linked over the next week.
11. I hope we are going to attempt to replace him. I know everyone thinks he had a nightmare time here but the thought of Ramage taking his place in the squad doesn't fill me with any more confidence..
12. 3-0 to Man Utd after 16 minutes.....
13. Newcastle are meeting with Obafemi Martins’s representatives on Sunday and expect to tie up a deal within the next few days for the Internazionale striker, skysports.com can reveal. Martins’s management team are flying to England and will meet with a Newcastle delegation, including chairman Freddy Shepherd. Skysports.com has learnt that a deal of €16 million (£10.9 million) had been struck between the Premiership club and the Serie A giants. Newcastle have been locked in talks with Inter and Martins for a few weeks over a possible move to Tyneside. Manager Glenn Roeder scouted him over the summer and highlighted him as one of his preferred transfer targets. Now, after missing out to Liverpool for Dirk Kuyt, Newcastle finally look set to add a new striker to their squad. If all goes well on Sunday, Newcastle could announce Martins’s capture as early as Monday.
14. Aston Villa are set to make a new bid for Newcastle winger James Milner, and hope to hijack United's move for Thomas Gravesen. Villans' boss Martin O'Neill is ready to turn to Milner as he struggles to land Celtic's Stilian Petrov. And Villa are also in talks with Gravesen's agent amid what is now down to a three-way fight for the Real Madrid midfielder. Milner impressed at Villa on a season-long loan before returning to Newcastle this summer after O'Neill's predecessor David O'Leary couldn't raise funds to sign him permanently. But O'Neill is also a big fan of the 20-year-old and has been given the green light to spend big by Villa's new owner-elect, Randy Lerner. That is why Villa are battling with United and Celtic for Gravesen, valued at £2 million by Madrid. Meanwhile, Magpies boss Glenn Roeder has revealed Darren Bent was top of his summer shopping list. "When the season finished we made an enquiry," said Roeder, who is under fierce pressure from fans to boost his attacking options. "But we were told there was no chance - no chance at any price." Roeder also admitted he plans to watch a DVD of Russian hot-shot Alexander Kerzhakov, although Inter's Obafemi Martins and German World Cup star Miroslav Klose are preferred targets.
