1. Well if some mug really wants to pay 10m for him, that might just about do it, unless we get mugged ourselves ! Then we are back to square one. We need to replace Bernard, and find serious money to replace Shearer.
2. Local computer shop has a card which has a line in and a socket for the tv aerial to go into it, complete with burning software. As I bought my video card there, he says it will work with the video card [although independently, it plugs into a spare pci socket on the mobo]. At first I thought the extra socket on my current video card was a line in, but now know it is a line out to watch TV. It is probably similar to the e-buyer link I made earlier..but I've decided to have a look at everything so far before I [possibly] go back to the shop to buy the card described above. Cost of it is 28 quid BTW. I've been copying the odd film using dvd shrink for a few months or so now, and also copying some cassettes etc onto CD's. Now I want to put some old videos onto DVD's. I would preferably use Roxio to do it [although I have a copy of nero as well] but having only burned DVD's using dvd shrink, will have to get used to manipulating the software and editing files rather than just copydisk. Question pse someone : how much of a 3 hour video will go onto one DVD disk ? Thanks to all for the advice. Sammy, is this -r and +r relevant to watching on a pc or a DVD player with television, because I won't be watching them on the computer mate, just the TV. All the ones I've burned so far are OK on the DVD, which is a grundig.
3. aye thats true you need a sense of humour if you're an NUFC supporter
4. I'll be there in a minute mate...tks, I'm putting together the thoughts and advice I'm getting.
5. Boa Morte is the replacement for Robert. On last seasons form along, I would answer yes. 11099 what I meant is, he is valued at a higher price mate... thing is, we will now need to sell a midfield player to buy a forward to replace Bellamy, and for me anyway we don't have a midfield player on the books who will bring in the money to adequately replace Bellamy... Of course giving Robert away as well for nowt really helped
6. ... push the price down deliberately in order to buy more, cheaper.....
7. As usual, due to managerial incompetence, we are screwed when we buy as well as when we sell. Boa Morte better than Bellamy ????????
8. Don't give up that easily LM. The other board needs posters such as yourself that have a valid opinion, otherwise it will all be yes men. 10856 thanks mate, but it is anyway. Tired of getting banned for fuck all. He's welcome to all the schoolkids. he can fuck off.
9. I've just had a look. Tried to register as Leazes mag and westendlad. Both names taken. Then I was told leazesmag is banned. fuck him. I can't be arsed.
10. Well, as our resident cancer, I feel he does have some explaining to do. But seriously, he is the only one I can think of off hand on this forum who backs Souness, so I think it's a fair point. 10277 I don't think Gemmill backs Souness as such, I think he's maybe in the camp of sacking him early on with no replacement lined up could be a poorer decision than letting him stay till the end of the season. 10281 if you know he's crap, letting him carry on is as big a mistake as appointing him in the first place
11. Anyway.... LM - I assume your PC has a USB2 port? If so then you might want to consider this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/redire...1&creative=6738 If you do go ahead a purchase it, be a luvvy and use the link above so I gets me some commission! 10280 tks mate, I've also been recommended this http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...d=54154&_LOC=UK
12. Depends what your copying from and what hardware you have. If you're copying from a digital camera then you'd most likely use the firewire port. If you're copying from an analog source then it would be via the use of s-video or phono ports or even the coaxial input from a WinTV card. 9984 scart lead from video to back of pc [double connection ???] ... would a camcorder cable of this type do ??? 10076 As in RCA, the yellow, red and white/black plugs? LM, I know it is probably a dumb question but does your PC have an analogue video card installed? Most computers don't have them as standard items when you buy the computer. If it doesn't then you will need to look at buying one and fitting it. If you google "analogue video card' you should find some information that can help. See the biggest problem you have is the conversion of an analogue signal to a digital format. 10195 it;s an gforce 4 mmx-440 AGP 8X with 64mb DDR mate. It has a video line out, but not a line in [yesterday i didn't know if this was a line out or a line in]
13. too much loitering on street corners
14. I'm the last one who is in support of Fat Fred's way of running the club, though regarding the bit in bold I strongly disagree. How can anybody say, that he isn't providing the funds? He is making money available in the region of up to 20m this summer if you keep in mind those players signed and those we had lodged bids for. Add to it the fact that Souness was allowed to spend more than 10m only half a year ago. Tell anybody at Sunderland, West Ham, Man Shitty et al that the manager isn't getting money for rebuilding the squad. They will be laughing hysterically. I don't know how Fat Fred is doing the transfer dealings, but I am not a friend of simply bowing down to other club's ridiculous valuation of players. I also have not seen the ominous list Souness and Fat Fred were tinkering about together. As Anelka was pretty low down the list as I asume I only can imagine the answers Fred and Graeme got from other clubs, players and representatives. As I said a couple of weeks ago the transfer business is a fiasco. And in my opinion Graeme and Fred are both to blame, because they simply don't have a clue what they were/are doing. 10406 I understand what you are saying but what I am saying (and what everyone aknowledges) is that unless we sign at least one striker and a left winger we are totally fucked. The fat man isn't providing the funds to do that or we would have been able to sign Anelka and LBM by now. Like you I don't want be paying over the odds but that is the position we are now in because everyone knows how desperate we are beacuse of the transfer policy that Souness and him have followed. We are now at the stage where I would rather pay more than we should have had to in order to make sure we are not relegated. Let's face it, shelling out an extra couple of million more for a player is peanuts compared to what we would lose if we go down! 10428 I actually don't disagree with his assessment that the midfield was piss poor and weak, ie Dyer and Jenas, no tackling ability, wideopen, losing the initiative etc and needed to be addressed, in fact I agree. But - that made it more necessary for him to keep the other players until such a time as he changed the midfield to how he liked it. And, I don't care how he felt about Bellamy and Robert, I just don't care, he is paid a lot of money to manage the club and he should put the club first, after the gobshite is always telling us how no one is bigger than the club. It's just a sign of how incompetent he is, that he took the action he has done, for an experienced manager too. It's indefensible, he should be fuckin shot.
15. You might be right that Shepherd wanted Bellamy and Robert out. Can't see why though, if he did and he appointed Souness to do it, then intended to sack him to avoid taking the flak himself, then that is as big a disgrace as Souness making up a pack of lies and/or instigating a situation whereby he knew he would get an excuse to turn opinion against Bellamy and find a reason to get rid of him. So they both bring the club down. The difference in Shepherds favour is that when Souness is binned, he will walk away with his contract paid up, whereas Shepherd would see his shares and stock in the club dive. Now why would he do that ?? I'm not saying I disagree, just that I can't think of a reason why, or I would agree. He appointed Souness because he's a numbskull, football wise. This is the reason his last 3 managers too were appointed, all for blinkered reactive reasons ie Dalglish because he was the opposite of the "tactically naive" Keegan [eh ?? what a joke that looks now why is it that attacking managers are naive and defensive managers are "astute" what a load of bollocks], Gullit the opposite of the negative Dalglish. Robson the best appointment, and proves that there is no wrong time to appoint the right manager. Now Souness. Words fail me completely on this one. Shepherd is not good enough to run a top club , football wise, he is not astute or knowledgeable enough about football. But the fall of the last 10 months is squarely in Souness's court. He has been happy enough doing what he wanted, the thing is, if he hasn't why doesn't he walk away and tell us the truth ? Shepherd will sack Souness in September-ish. Following on from sacking the last 3, he will do it again. He will have to, for the simple reason that we will be struggling, Souness will have lost it, and leaving it until Xmas will cement a relegation struggle. The difference is this time, there is no Bobby Robson round the corner, so I only hope he is looking around now for the next guy, and I hope he is talking to knowledgeable people who give him good advice, and takes his bloody geordie blinkers off.
16. What about the Rooney bid though? 10350 I don't believe we had the money for that.
17. Fact is also, DK, that the manager chose to sell players he shouldn't have done, giving him more gaps to fill, and more players to find, than he should have done. Thats not Shepherds fault. And Souness would have done the same whoever the chairman was, because he wanted to do it. Having wanted them out [bad enough] at any cost [worse] he then saw them sold at less than there value, thus reducing his own spending power [worse again, and should be sacked having survived 2 or 3 obvious sacking offences previously]. That isn't Shepherd either, he may be stupid, but he is allowing his manager correctly to run the playing side of the club. I would wager a bet that Shepherd wasn't happy at underselling Bellamy, but Souness gave him no choice, he had to either do that or sack Souness. Yes, I know..... Who made the decision to extend Bellamy's break by a week when he was going to report for training ? Shepherd ? I think not. Which proves the above point. Lastly, Souness also would have had an idea how much money would be available to him [which is more than most, he can't complain he has brought in 6 players at a cost of 20m-ish in less than a year] so if he again chose to concentrate on the midfield area then that is also his decision too, not Shepherds.
18. There used to be a telephone box opposite my house, it's been taken away now as people stopped using it, but for years cars used to sit outside my house, sometimes blocking the drive while they made phone calls. And years ago, I had a flat next to a church. Came home from work on a Sunday morning shift and couldn't moved for cars..had to walk half a mile down the bloody street !
