  1. Not sure about the other 4 letters though. My new car's ends in FTP which is pretty good for an IT nerd anyway.
  2. Potential first TTer to be at your mercy?
  3. People have moved on to a decent degree and I see that as natural progress. I still think it would benefit from true secularisation in education and housing though.
  4. But in NI as Renton said, all of those would be the same without the biggie. (Unless you wanted to split hairs of Irish versus Scottish ethnicity which is pretty fine)
  5. As .com state, considering how a slightly different set of results on the last day could have seen us finish tenth in this abortion of a season, setting that as an aim really is a fucking joke. I've seen/read nothing to make me consider reducing my death wish list.
  6. But how would discrimination work without name/school/address to help?
  7. It's all about tribalism. Whether it's race, country, religion, politics or football humans want to belong. Of course the rich and powerful have always used these tools for their purposes but its my forlorn hope that as more people recognise this manipulation they'll learn to reject it. The reason religion is the most insidious in my view is that it uses human fear of death and the unknown as its core basis.
  8. There's a lot of support here for the view that western/US actions has had grave consequences but I think ignoring the religious angle is a bit deluded as well.
  9. And of course the founding of Israel and the American support for it has nothing to do with religion......
  10. I think HF and Renton are both sort of right - I think this concept of brotherhood which tbh I think is actually a good concept when not used for violence underpins a lust for revenge which is to some extent understandable. However theres no getting away from the fact its a religion which underpins the brotherhood.

    Pet Hates!

Watched the daily show last night and he was taking the piss out of a news pundit who read a statement and pronounced it light-rally.
  12. I don't think anyone would disagree but its a question of what you put up with in order to be "successful". One of LM's classic views was that Shepherd's foibles didn't bother him in the slightest in the pursuit of a winning team and I'm sure he extended that to Bellamy's behaviour. I suppose its the usual hypocrisy of only caring about the behaviour of shit players. As someone else said would he have dropped Mignolet?
  13. FFS - I thought Leonard Nimoy had died.
  14. What makes him think any players he signs won't be wankers as well?

    Steve Harper

Good occasion for him today (though being honest I never rated him as more than okay) and even though I think Elliot has looked good in patches I thought overall Harper looked safer.
  16. I'm never surprised how thick great numbers of the population are but I don't think dumbing things down helps - I might be idealistic but we should be trying to drag them up.
  17. You missed the memo where it was changed to aggregate scores.
  18. Reminds me of the Man City game last year - given them a canny game so far but I think we'll buckle later on if they step it up.
  19. The bowel cancer ads and Embarrassing Bodies to name but two. See also the cancer ads using "blood cancer" rather than Leukemia.
  20. The recent adoption of "poo" is one of my major annoyances - as you say very juvenile - as if use of faeces/defecate would be beyond people. it would also provide the perfect response if someone did query the use of the proper terms - legitimate use of "you're as thick as shit".
  21. I remember when they first started showing Italian football on c4 there was a game at the end of the season where Milan needed a point fot the title and the other team needed a point to avoid relegation. It finished 2-2 and James richardson said that that was a completely normal snd expected outcome in Italy.
  22. No - they have teleporters but one of the key plot points is that Scotty invents the ability to teleport onto a ship which is in warp mode. If you're a fan of Sci-fi which I am, you get used to what's known as a CPD - Convenient Plot Device - something which doesn't withstand analysis but helps the story - in this case you could extend Gemmill's point and ask why Kirk rides a motorcycle when he could teleport - the answer is they need to show he was a "rebel" to fit the character. I would guess they used a shuttle so they could have a journey no matter how short to allow the introduction of Bones.
  23. It's strange the are called "UKIP" when they seem very English (and in fact very South East) - I haven't read what their policies are for Scotland and the rest.
  24. Never understood the 5 minutes crew - even if a game is dead anything can happen and if you're that desperate to get a pint quicker or get home even half an hour "earlier" then it's pretty sad. There are exception though - I've left games early 3 times - Cardiff in 83 which was a Wednesday night and the last train left before the end of the game (just saw Beardsley's first goal then fucked off), Liverpool when Owen scored his hat-trick goal and just couldn't face it anymore and Southampton when it was 2-0 at half time and Bennet had just sent Steve Howey off and given a ludicrous pen so I'd had enough (it actually finished 2-1 but never mind).
