Ive not been bothered about the final since the two we were in. All the Chelsea/Arsenal/Man Utd snoozefests of the 2000s didn't help.

It was a decent performance and at any other time a canny point - I just felt there was no desire/urgency in the last twenty to really go for the win. Of course that was with the benefit of knowing Wigan and Villa were really going for it in their games and were winning. The introduction of Shola didn't help of course. A similar performance would probably be enough but the lack of chances created despite overall competence is an ongoing concern.

Problem now is that Pardew will play for the point and hope Arsenal beat Wigan. I dont think he has a clue on how to really go for it so its down to the players to realise - something they blatantly failed at versus West Ham.

Slightly disappointed - I'm off this week and had a dentist's appointment this morning to take the first step on getting implants but they've just rang to cancel it - I'm a bit of a CT when it comes to "projects" and once I decide to do something I like to get it underway promptly. On the other hand I did get a call last night confirming that my car will be ready tomorrow and of course I'm slight more at ease after last night's result so not too bad a mood overall.

I think the absence of Krul has cost us a lot. I don't think Elliot is that bad but it reminds me of when Harper deputised for Given - not a blatant "problem" but a significant factor nonetheless.

In 96 with about 4 games left it was possible for us and Man Utd to finish on the same points and GD/GS/GA (Unitl the scabs laid down and died for them) and even though they doubled us, a play-off was mooted - not sure of the curent rules for relegation.
