  1. If he hasn't scored by the time they play us I'm going to stick a couple of hundred quid on it.
  2. Just saying at work yesterday that even before the wedding was announced, anyone with sense could have used 4 days to get 11 because of Easter being late so I think "gratitude" for the timing is overstated.
  3. I alwways did think and still do that he deliberately took it easy when recovering from his broken toe to make sure he was fresh for the world cup thus only playing a couple of games for us - funnily enough I also think his lack of matches at the end of that season probably then contributed to his injury in Germany. So when he says he "tried in every game he played" he's probably telling the truth. Whether he played every game he could is another matter imo.
  4. Ebay is actually more reasonable than I thought - something like this would do you fine: Specialized
  5. Depends what you want it for. If you just want an occasional road/cycle path ride then you could get a decent hardtail off ebay for £300-400. If you want to go offroad I wouldn't spend less than £600. Getting a Halfords £99 job is false economy - won't last 5 minutes.
  6. Both. He got a few "I signed him" comments in as well as dismissing the Lovenkrands appeal.
  7. With 5 games left and the number of inter-shite games it is feasible for 4 or 5 teams to get another 6 or 7 points - unlikely but feasible. The final day could see a 3 from 7 or 8 scenario. I think we'll either beat Blackpool or Brum and be fine.
  8. Completely bored at work so just chucked a holiday request in for tomorrow - already off the 11 days so now 12.
  9. 1992 Derby County (a) 1-4 (0-2) Division Two Peacock Williams(pen), Kitson, Ramage 2 21,363 Disaster on Easter Monday as referee Brian Coddington sent off Brock, Scott and O'Brien and banished McDermott from the bench as United were left in a relegation position with only two games left One of my and many other's proudest ever days as a Newcastle supporter.
  10. Cancer aged 63. Usually only comment on people who meant something to me - loved Doctor Who as a kid and really liked Sarah Jane - and that's said completely without any perve angle. RIP
  11. Aye worked hard but the lack of quality was so evident. Alex I would've put everything in my pocket on you scoring that header he just needed to hit the target imo. Latest in a long line of players you can't fault for effort but not quite good enough.
  12. Only Nolan missing surely? Without going all CT I'm sure we could have "easily" finished 6th or 7th if we had any sembance of a strikeforce - maybe even if we'd just kept Carroll. Only Nolan missing? Shola wasn't fit, Ben Arfa would've played, and another striker like Best in front of Lovenkrands and we would've done something last night. We were blunt up front, says it all that Lovenkrands was 10/1 for first goal. Yeah but we have what we have - Ameobi, Lovenkrands and Best are all second rate imo and are/have been our only choices for ages now.
  13. Only Nolan missing surely? Without going all CT I'm sure we could have "easily" finished 6th or 7th if we had any sembance of a strikeforce - maybe even if we'd just kept Carroll.
  14. Deserved point - but fuck me I thought he'd given a pen.
  15. If you want a browsing experience then I don't know of anything to suggest, if you know what you want then Ebay is the best bet - people sell paperbacks for pennies.
  16. Racists as well?!?!?!? They haven't got much going for them down there. Locals taking exception to Yemeni Seamen who'd settled and started working their way through the local women.
  17. My Mam told me they used to have tents on the beach when she was a kid that people owned where they used to leave stuff overnight without it being nicked - not sure whether I ever really believed her (would have been the 30s).
  18. There was a game where we beat them about 3-0 I think where he looked good but missed at least 3 or 4 really good chances - I think that's why people were a bit dismissive when the interest in him was revealed.
  19. The anti-gay thing is something they have in common with the EDL nutjobs.
  20. 1. SJP 2. Bamburgh Castle 3. Hardrians Wall. 4. Durham castle/cathedral (Heresy maybe) 5....40? (not a rebuttal - just a prompt for a few suggestions)
  21. I'm sure everyone on here fails to understand the appeal but ST council played an absolute blinder when they came up with the "Cookson Country" shit - other places should probably follow that model if they can.
  22. Even you can't count a colliery outfall (albeit a Mackem one) as the areas "fault" though
  23. I don't know either that well - only been to Bamburgh a few times and when up there always seemed to be heading for Lindisfarne rather than the beach as such.
  24. Certainly better than Robinson or Dalglish who I don't think were included.
  25. I think growing up with all of that has made me semi-immune from a probable natural tendency to see it as tacky. I know CT was arguing very pro-tacky area but I'd say walking south from Ghandis temple all the way along the cliff tops to Marsden is still fantastic and certainly doesn't lack for natural beauty.
