I watched the second X-files film last night. I used to be a fan of the series until it lost its way imo about half way through but just decided to watch this for nostalgia's sake. I've had a few Codec conflicts in the past and have always just used the uninstall option from add/remove programs. I've never went down the Device Manager route. On the last couple of machines I've set up I've used a Codec pack called Shark which seems to work fine though I do use VLC as well - I use a mixture of playback apps.
