I share the sentiments that I would have jumped in but I think the police side to the story makes sense as well - one of them went on his bike to direct the other emergency services down the lane to the lake and the other remained there to pinpoint the location. This may be bullshit but I can see the sense in it if its true. I also think a 3 or 4 ft deep lake is a different proposition to a 6 feet deep lake which I think this was in places. In the former you could search pretty effectively just by wading but not in the latter which needs more effort. As I said I think I would have tried - but at the same time the mother's "he would have been alive if they had done" is probably over-hopeful as well.

I'd add Dabizas.

How can anyone get criticism of Shephersd out of this and excuse Luque is beyond me. If a player doesn't know us and is a bit reluctant then there is nothing wrong with giving him more money to encourage him to sign. All that article proves to me is that I was far too generous to the lazy sack of shit.

They''l try rest because of England - he'll not play for us and then strain it requiring an op - total time out for us 8-9 weeks. Or have the op now - miss England, time out for us - 3 or 4 weeks. Mmmm... I wonder.

Can't really put any blame on Harper tbh Disagree - the first two jobs of a keeper are to stay on their feet (see Alonso) and to be in the right position for anything that may happen - he was off the middle of the goal for no reason whatsoever - it was a good strike but I blame him - nowt against him just think He's not good enough.
-
I honestly thought that performances like that would be a thing of the past - probably over optimistic but still galling. The only positive for me is that with any sense Given will be back in goal after another display of Harper-position magic.

I think the bloke's a grade A toss pot, I'm not religious or anything, but the way he goes about insulting anyone with a modicum of faith, he's just rude. He wants to let God's love into his heart and stop being the embittered husk he seems. Agreed, his arrogance is his undoing, I find his arguments intreging, but his manner and plain rudness undermines his work. He's turned being a cunt into a science. Has he told families of people who drowned in the flood that it was because we don't hate gays enough? Has he told south americans that prior to being invaded, massacred en masse and robbed that they were crying out for God? Give me one Dawkins quite that matches those for cuntishness.

I want to say substitute Taylor (to see if Beye can attack), Smith and Shola but that doesn't work with fucking Pattison on the bench (unless he brings on Faye in midfield). He's done a good job on the defence which was the priority but January needs more midfield surgery for me.

If I was going to object it would be because of my dislike for the great God capitalism, nowt to do with stolen feast days. For the record I enjoy new year but despise christmas for personal reasons.

Just as many kids probably got snatched years ago - the cases just weren't media frenzies. Having said that I wasn't left alone in the house at night until I was about 14. I had to get a bus to infants and juniors - my Mam took me for the first year I think then I caught it myself.

I'd been to New York in 98 and went to the top - I was working at home in 01 and saw an internet news break about a plane hitting them and I assumed because of what I'd seen when I'd been there that it was light aircraft - possibly tourist - that had fucked up. Went downstairs to check it out and spent the rest of the day there. I think it was the fact that they collapsed that I found the most shocking. I had to fly up the toon from Stansted the next day - that was pretty sobering.

There was a possible flood of the black sea which became the subject of a Sumerian myth (Gilgamesh) - the jews simply ripped it off (as they did the concept of Satan and other thing). As I said the point is do you want a God who would drown everyone even it is just metaphorical. Can't really answer that question well sadly. Some of the stories such as that of Noah's Ark and the plagues in Egypt from the OT I ask many questions about. It doesn't make me doubt God, but merely question. I think that's why the term "personal god" has become more popular in recent times - I think people have come to realise that some questions they have about the "traditional" God means that they can't accept him as defined in the bible or whatever so they define their own. I think that's all well and good and if everyone who did this kept it to themselves it would be fine but its the organisation that I think is the problem - with all the politicisation and power trips that go with it. As I've said I do think that these beliefs are irrational but being honest its more the churches and their power and how that does or may affect me and other people that I object to.

Perhaps its just my warped brain but the icon used on that advert reminds me of something...... The Jimbo (and me) equivlent of seeing the face of christ in a cheese toastie.

Thats how it works by definition.... and Bollocks.

I know its just "allegedly" but this bit about finding needles gets me - if it turns out that all else aside they were sedating their kids with injections they should be struck off at the very least - then again you've got to get to Shipman's level before the GMC act usually.

Dawkins writing in Free Inquiry and pretty much summing up what I think:
-
Don't forget it was only 2 of the unclean animals (why bother) and 7 pairs of the clean. "How did the Koalas get from and to Australia" is always a classic. Creationists are also willing to suggest that the flood caused the grand canyon but leave out how that fits in with native americans. Of course the real question is how can you believe in a god who metaphorically or not would drown every human and animal on earth (including innocent babies) just because he didn't like how the hebrews had turned out. What is the metaphorical lesson? - please God or drown? - loving God my arse.

Yes its is more likely Science asks and gives answers - the human brain is capable of hallucination, mood swings, psychotic tendencies and delusions - all because of an upset chemistry or cell damage - much more plausible than an invisible friend. Until there is one shred of evidence otherwise I'll stick with science.
-
I've often wondered whether an honest psychiatrist when confronted with a patient who spoke of an invisible friend who watches over them and judges them but doesn't use the word God would be diagnosed with a psychosis. Yes I am serious - but for the "virtue" of faith and its place in society I don't see any difference or justification for not giving that diagnosis.
-
Absolutely - its obvious as I've said before that communities of humans couldn't have formed without basic /murder/rape/theft laws and other stuff will have developed from that. Its also obvious that a desire to explain nature before it was understood as much as it is now could easily invoke Sky God explanations - the worldwide diversity of such explanations a hint to their man-made nature. All I'm saying is its time we grew up and realised this.

Months of campaigning but now charges are supposedly on the horizon they need to go home for the sake of the other bairns - hmm.....

So bowing down to him is in your view as important (or more so) than leading a good life? If the morality is just a part of it, why doesn't he just ask for the worship and not care how we act? Does someone who is very religious but "evil" - for example a mafia don deserve a place more than someone who never does anything major wrong but can't bring themselves to believe? What about people who never hear the message - the pope recently implied that the native people of South America "needed christianity" to obtain redemption - would they deserve to be damned simply for living an ocean away from Europe? These questions apply whether the more recent twisting whereby the saved get heaven and the rest get nothing or whether the rest are off to hell.

They need to come home to whip up support for their "Portuguese police are framing us" campaign in the tabloids.

Theres a big campaign in the US to make it a Theocracy - it would be funny if Bush said "Ok - but its Islamic".
