Bassong is a decent defender. And I know for a fact it he would have stayed if just a mediocre contract was put in front of him. IF the £25m was paid up front and not drips and drabs then I'd take that. BUT, would every penny be seen to be spent on the squad? This is where it falls down because I wouldn't trust Ashley to not pocket a chunk of the money as a pay back. We'd be better off keeping him.

I bought my last car brand new (Corsa) and delivery time was 6 weeks. They delivered the car on time but ... the car didn't have the Air Con that I'd wanted/ordered. They offered me £1k off the £8k price if I'd accept it with no A/C. I refused. Another 6 weeks for delivery which this time was on time. I did though kick up a stink and said I 'll likely leave it because the Corsa C was only months away from being phased out for the Corsa D. That I'd in effect had to wait 12 weeks for my new motor. Anyway, I got them to fit he dual controls for me for nowt to complete the deal. Get yasel a haggling head on. I'd check about a month previous for home games. Goes to members then general public but members will go nowhere near selling out.

I can genuinely see some of the Worlds leading nations giving this a miss. Maybe organise their own tournement in the summer. The fact it puts players at risk in the heat would probably see some European countries at least dissuading their players from going.
