That wage cap thing must be bollocks. Shevchenko, Lampard and Terry are already on something like £130,000, they won't accept a cut.

We could have had Miguel if we'd gone in for him before Euro 2004, I remember us being interested in him before the tournement but wanted to 'wait and see'. It wasn't all bad because we signed Steven Carr instead.

DANNY'S NEW BOY IN TOON

NEWCASTLE are poised with a £2million bid for Leedswonder boy Danny Rose - the last of the Elland Road young hopes.

England youth player Rose, 16, was the odd-boy-out in the deal which took Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo to Chelsea in a controversial transfer a year ago.

He chose to stay but Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd is ready to splash out for the attacking midfielder, who is already starring for Leeds reserves.

Leeds will look for about £2m in compensation, based on the cash they got from Chelsea for Woods and Taiwo, when chairman Ken Bates drove a hard deal after threatening FA action against the champions.

Newcastle are expected to tie up the deal within the next few weeks to take Rose into the Premiership.

Chelsea are after Tayls!

Mar 11 2007

By Neil Farrington, The Sunday Sun

Steven Taylor

Chelsea are on the trail of Newcastle defender Steven Taylor. The Sunday Sun has learned that the Premiership champions enquired about the 21-year-old during January.

Chelsea raised the idea of Taylor during discussions about a move for Shaun Wright-Phillips from Stamford Bridge to St James’s Park.

And although they were given no encouragement by United – as they were when they asked after Obafemi Martins – Chelsea maintain an interest in the England Under-21 defender.

The Blues’ lack of defensive strength in depth was exposed by John Terry’s absence in December and January.

Hopefully the usual Sunday paper bollocks.

I'd bite their arm off at the right price.

Would be like us to swap a right winger for a defender though.

Leazes will be torn though. On the one hand we'd be getting rid of the "future England captain", but on the other we'd have more attack minded players.

Leeds fans opinion of the Danny Rose speculation.

http://www.waccoe.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=91495

I still remember all the "Kilgallon is the next Ferdinand/Woodgate/Moore/Beckenbauer! OMG!!!!LOL!!!11!!1! on Leeds message boards a couple of years ago...

Rose might be a good prospect but totally unproven. Getting 2m for him wouldn't be too bad for Leeds, but I think Newcastle should look to address their problems first, especially with limited transfer funds due to missing out on European football...
