I had that game. And at least two of the haircuts displayed by the kids on the box.

It's a shame you don't anymore huh? :icon_lol:

No. No, it really isn't. :D

Come off it, I'd turn for you in a second if you had an 80s mullet. Without hesitation. ;) While making a face like that for you. :(

As I said... B)

The accessories were better than the game itself like.

agreed, my mate nextdoor got the astroturf ptch, i got the working floodlights, scoreboard, loads of tv crew etc, i remember getting a pub pool table for home (dont ask!!) i was about 8-9 at the time, and painted white lines on with tipex, it was class! my awld man bollocked me though :icon_lol:

I had them.... my pyromaniac brother set fire to them though :D

While you were playing? It must've been like a mini Bradford fire ;)

Fuck no... i went to get them out of the box one day and the legs were just a pile of molten mush.

I found BBQ lighter fluid-soaked bog roll shoved into the staircases on the grandstand as well - I swear the shithead was leaving it til nightfall so he could see it glow in the dark :(

Used to play it all the time with me dad and had some quality matches. They'd usually go well into extra time too. I think I used to pretend one of them was Baggio (the Italian starlet, not the contrary poster) and he'd always get to shoot. Got fingers like a jazz pianist now thanks to it as well.

Did you guys get the brilliant Test Match game over in the UK? From reading this thread it sounds pretty similar but was cricket instead.

We used to have matches that would last for days during the summer, and fistfights over who would get to be Australia because really, why would you want to play as anyone else? We never had Subbuteo over here, but Test Match was brilliant.

I had that game. Was sublime.

I can confirm I spent many a gay hour in Meenzer's loft flicking balls around for hours, was some of the best fun I've ever had!

He had his on a snooker table and after a few hours of non stop flicking we just chucked the thing to the side and got down to potting some serious browns on the baize of love! :icon_lol:

I had subbuteo, the pitch was drawning pinned on to ply wood, fence surround drawing pinned down as were the goals. played the game with a couple of lads in our street and used the ball from the striker game (smaller and din't look so stupid as the huge subbuteo ball) I also had subbuteo cricket and rugby but could never work out how the rugby was supposed to be played.. however i did nck the penalty kickers from the ruby to take corners on the football years before they brought in the official corner takers.

there was also a subbuteo angling in the early days !

as for those with test match. it was a great game but i was always put off by the fact that the batsman seemd to have a hoover instead of a cricket bat.

Never had Subbuteo.Too Poor ;)

Me & my mates used to tie our feet to upside down bin lids then get passers by to hit us round the head.Hated playing in goal as you got a broomstick up the arse and had to stand with your arms up for ages. :icon_lol:

Subbuteo angling? Could that possibly have beat the thrill and danger of magnetic fishing? ;)

Just stumbled across a few blog posts on that very subject. Lovely stuff (especially the "worst" list - I had 3 of the 5 ).

I was in Waterstones at the Silverlink and noticed they're selling the sets and a couple of teams. Was tempted, bairn still a little young to use as an excuse at the minute though! We did crack my mates set out at his a few weeks ago and had another great night playing it. I'd forgotten how much I loved playing it as a kid.

The floodlights were mint. Absolutely impractical and largely pointless but class all the same.

Bought a set from ebay as my youngest daughter likes football and it was also a great excuse to have a play on it again but I just can't be be arsed whenever she fancies a game. I liked it as a kid but now..........err, no thanks!

I had the Subbuteo European Cup. I have no idea why I bought it. I had terracing though, massively impractical for playing.

i had my pitch stapled to a bit of chip board too. i was the envy of all my friends. funny what our generation had to endure for kicks. no wonder we all got into drugs and drinking at such a young age. these days it's all internet and video games the likes of which we could only dream of.

my 18 month old son already knows how to unlock my ipad and navigate his way to the peppa pig videos ffs.

You just know someone has an entire loft space with a subbuteo pitch set up like the Maracana who would really like that.

Still love subbuteo like, I'm friends with a Belgian guy on Facebook who runs all the European tournaments. Still massive and taken deadly serious.
