UEFA should just sack FIFA off tbh, they've enough power/finance within the ranks to just run without them surely. Wouldn't take long for FIFA to crumble without the big clubs and no european national sides. They probably wouldn't even miss a world cup.

Almost as important as having players is having sponsors and they now appear to be in play.

Aye,

For all the power that UEFA has, the landscape changes now that VISA are expressing concern. If they pull out, along with Coke, Nike and whomever else, Qatar can squeal as much as they like to no avail.

As much as I'd love this to force Blatter out, he's going to hang on for dear life because as soon as he's gone, all sorts of shit is going to come out. He can't risk stepping down.

I also reckon he's got something on Platini, which will make UEFA relatively impotent...

Nice one although UEFA should've done it the second FIFA sold the World Cup to a city in a fucking desert.

Lovng Bladders desperate attempts to distance himself from it all. He's the fucking CEO of the conpany man, how can he not know about it

I keep hearing about how Blatter is a "master politician". No he's not. He's running a very cosy corruption ring and is making a lot of corrupt people very rich - the same people that vote him in every year. Everyone else on the planet except the people who he's enriched, knows he's an evil old cunt.

Thats not being a good politician, it's just being a good criminal. One that's about to find out he wasn't as good as he previously thought.

AFAIK there's nothing to stop any breakaway group of country level associations from leaving FIFA to start a rival international association. We could see a Darts style split, with different sponsors backing different world cup tournaments broadcast by rival media conglomerates, with different teams in each one. FIFA can have their Qatar/Russia tournaments with the teams who decide to stick with FIFA, and the new body can have theirs in more sensible places.

It's a no-win for him really. Either he's dirty, or he's shown to be incompetent and uninformed.

He may be safe from the Feds if he was savvy enough to launder his money through the Clinton Foundation (like the folks in Qatar), as the Feds won't go anywhere near the Foundation.
