It was a decent fight and went as expected. McGregor dominating the first 4 rounds then gassing out and Mayweather owning him in rounds 8,9 and 10. Just knew it wasn't going to go the distance when McGregor was on rubber legs in round 8.

McGregor landed more punches certainly in the first 3 rounds and won them, so he did dominate the first few rounds. Wasn't a bad effort for someone fighting his first pro fight against a seasoned pro.

Just read the BBC report. It sounds like he shocked everyone by landing so much in the first three rounds until he blew himself out and then mayweather inevitably took control. An early KO was always his only realistic chance of causing an upset and even then the longest of long shots. When you consider most people were describing it as a farce, and he's in his first pro boxing fight, he's done well to last 10 rounds. Where does he go from here? A return to UFC after a pay day this big seems unlikely. I don't know if he did enough to suggest he might have a future as a boxer.

Mayweather pretty much let him have the first few rounds and wasn't in much danger of getting put down by anything McGregor was landing.

Once he decided to get going it was entirely one way. It pretty much worked out exactly as he planned.

McGregor will go back now to UFC. Yes the paydays aren't as big but he didn't show anything tonight to suggest he can make it in the upper echelons of boxing. Plus his next boxing match wouldn't be anywhere near as lucrative as this one.

Thought McGregor did very well relative to expectations but it wasn't a great spectacle as a fight and the result was inevitable after about 4 or 5 rounds. McGregor was able to land and score by a combination of reach advantage and throwing light arm punches for the most part, taking Mayweather a little out of his comfort zone and having to attack more than usual. I actually think it showed Mayweather's completely finished but still won easily. Pretty much a joke given the money involved. Can't believe people bought it ffs. You might as well get mugged tattooed on your forehead while you're at it

He landed more because Mayweather chose to throw minimal punches. In the same vein we dominated West Ham yesterday with 37% possession

Two of the judges only gave McGregor one round which I thought was harsh.

As an event it was probably worth £20 to see the climax of the circus. As a boxing event of course not.

I watched on Kodi FTR.

Just watched it and thought Connor looked decent till about the end of the sixth when he started blowing. You wouldn't have known one of them was a novice in his first pro fight and the other one was apparently the GOAT in the first half of the fight at least. After that it was one way traffic

You can put any spin on in that you want. McGregor dominated the first 3 rounds because he landed more punches than Mayweather.

Yes, I understand that it was Mayweather's game plan to allow McGregor to punch himself out which he did, McGregor is really only a 25 minute fighter and had only gone 25 minutes against Nate Diaz and he was off his feet by the end of that fight. The vast majority of his fights had ended very early. Training to go 12 rounds against a very cagey and undefeated fighter was always going to be a huge task - impossible really. That is what I forecasted before the fight, that McGregor needed to stun Mayweather early and go for the knockout because Mayweather would just get stronger as the fight went on.

McGregor is an excellent fighter, he troubled Mayweather because of his southpaw stance, his timing, angles and volume of punches, he was quicker to the punch early on as a matter of fact but he was never going to be able to sustain it and he was literally off his feet by round 7 against one of the greatest boxers of all time. If the ref didn't stop it when he did, Mayweather would have given him a massive beating, the rusty 40 year old not known for his knockout power that he is.

Spin  He controlled the entire fight. Connor didn't even look like hurting him so he let him gas and executed his plan. He might have won some rounds but he didn't dominate at any point

No one seems to be giving Mayweather the credit for withstanding these barrages.
