Heineken, it's just Dutch for Fosters.

Dutch for shit IYAM. Awful stuff.

What do you think Fosters is????

It's funny the other day when fish was in Sydney we had a couple of beers, when I asked him what he wanted he said anything but fosters.

I think it was only after he looked at the taps he realised you can't buy the shit here in Australia.

By the way, if you listen really carefully you can hear the cork being pulled from a bottle of this at my house.

I quite like Heineken

I think it's ok like. Nowt special but not bad for that sort of 5% generic lager. Certainly much better than it was when we used to get that 3.8% stuff (or whatever it was) and a lot better than some stuff out there.

Fucking hell VB is like dish water.

You do realise we have other beers that aren't made by CUB or Tooheys and are actually drinkable?

Am terribly uncultured about Aussie beer I have to admit. VB harks back to my student days when I used to drink loads of the stuff.

What's your recommendations then?

*Coopers*

^ Is quite good but as fish found out, if the pub/clubs taps aren't well kept it can go from nice to rank.

Boags from Tasmania is good, their strong arm bitter and draught are my preference.

James Squires Amber Ale is worth a taste.

These guys do amazing beer, again Tasmanian but very small.

Tooheys Black is good if you like dark beers but let's be honest there are lots of really good English dark beers and if you're ever in a pub that serves Reschs draught or Old Kent Brown then they are worth a try.

There are also some good beers out of Perth made by Matilda Bay.

btw a few of these are available here in the UK.

And while you're ordering from sanza, have a look at the NZ beers and try anything from the Macs brewery, Black Mac is a fave but it's difficult to find here in Sydney.

I had some stuff from Queensland that was lush when I was there too. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me like.

Edit: Eumundi Lager, that was it.

Found this beauty from the Black Forest in Gormany to remind me of my holiday there. Very nice on the palate.

Furstenburg is class.

Brooklyn Lager is great as well, they had it draught in The Tyne last time I was in, I've had bottles a few times, but that was the first time I had it on draught.

I've discovered this at Rehills recently (not in the chillers though, on the shelves directly opposite). Augustiner Hell. It is FANTASTIC.

I have to say, I really like Marksies own brand beers. The Czech and German lagers are both really nice, but the Italian Lager is my favourite and I actually prefer it to Peroni.

Its a shame they've changed the name and packaging though as I thought the old packaging was better when it was called Birra D'Oro.
