Math problem

My head is done in with this so I hope someone can help!

We paid 90% of our wedding reception bill last month. At the time we quoted 59 guests from my family and 41 from hers.

We owed

75 on the room

42 per head for lunch

9.95 per head for the wine (6 kids on her side who won't be paying for wine)

9.95 per head for evening food.

So my side paid 3498 and her side paid 2574.

Now the final payment is due but 6 have dropped out of her side and 4 from mine, leaving 90 people instead of 100. As we paid 90% we are paid up already.

However, her side has paid too much and my side has paid too little!

Basically, how much cash do I owe her dad? My brain is in bits figuring it out!

If you're spliting the cost of the room down the middle (i.e. £37.50 each) then I reckon that at 59 guests for you and 41 guests for her (only 35 paying for the wine) then the total costs should have been:

You: £3689.60

Her: £2515.70

If 4 have dropped out from your side and 6 from hers (none of them kids, then the costs should be:

You: £3442.00

Her: £2144.30

Bear in mind these are the total costs - not a 90% calculation.

According to what you've said then you've been overcharged originally.

I get it to be:

£62.65 per head (adult)

£52.70 per head (kids)

she has 41 guests (6 are kids)

35 adults

6 kids

= 2245.45

he has 59 adults =

3696.35

total cost - £5941.80

originally paid

he - £3498

she - £2574

90% = 3148.20

90% = 2316.60

she overpaid by £257.40

you undepaid by £349.80

you appear to owe her £257.40 however venue appear to owe you £123.70

But its late, Im tired and I could be wrong.

How many threads must J69 mention his wedding, it's as bad as Leazes and Shepherd!

he should donate it to a buy the player fund to Mike Ashley. We might get somebody better than Perch.

I get the following. Not sure if it's right, but if it's not it should be easy to follow and fix the mistakes.

If you actually paid 90% of the two his and hers figures you've quoted, then you've underpaid the venue. You owe her dad AND the venue money.

Have a look though and see if it makes sense.
