If PV2 became clear, we'd get the extension until March 2020. That sounds like the final date anyway - October is better expressed as the date by which No Deal occurs if we still haven't got any semblance of a plan.

Well, not quite. We're contesting the

Euro elections. That's a big deal for the Tories. It's going to be incredibly important for us to vote for Remain candidates in that.

If Labour aren't fully and clearly behind PV2 at this point they should be obliterated at the EU elections. It's a perfect chance since it doesn't harm them domestically but does send a very clear message.

 

What we are going to need to accomplish this, however, is some manner of figurehead for Remain. Not Vince Cable.

It's interesting that Francois is now the main poster boy of Hard Brexit. JRM a busted flush due to his late support for May's deal? Potentially good news for us anyway - while Francois and his ilk are getting all of this attention, they're not going to back down from their positions, this making May's deal impossible unless Corbyn enables it. And you'd have to hope he isn't stupid enough to do that without PV2.

I read earlier that they've allowed themselves the possibility to extend it to March 2020 by implicating some manner of review in mid-October. If the wheels are in motion before then, they'll let it through.

Tusk basically conceded that we could probably extend again in October. Realistically if we told them in June that the only way out was a referendum, they'd give us the time. Ditto a general election. 

 

The October thing was entirely down to Macron being a little cunt. It would have been December or March if not for him.

Yeah Macron was playing a weird game last night but ultimately it doesn't matter much. If we're going to get this referendum it's going to happen quickly.

Ian Dunt has written an article saying that the idea we need to hold the referendum by October is wrong. We just need to agree to hold one and set the ball in motion. That'll be enough.
