I was going to leave this alone but this response has been bugging me. Its obviously a facile comparison as women have had centuries of being victims of oppression and violence. Your example is just an extension of racism  that Black people have suffered for generations

Do you believe that CIS women are more at risk from a trans woman than a CIS woman? 
 

You haven’t said much on the subject but I know you have a trans child so I’m genuinely interested to hear your views on it, if you wish to share them.

For me these questions are so reductive as to make discussion pointless. 

You and others in this thread give  the impression that they see this question as being simple with an obvious correct answer. That's obviously fair enough but makes trying to bring any nuance  redundant

Not my intention, apologies. Not saying you intend it that way but they almost gotcha questions like "can a man have a penis" so I can't see a way of answering that's helpful

 

Here is a question for you. In this scenario I can understand a Cis woman feeling uncomfortable and threatened, and that she shouldn't have to share a safe place. I also understand the other point of view that they don't feel comfortable using the male toilet. What's the answer I don't know

I agree that’s there’s no absolutely perfect answer. At what point does a man transition to a woman? When they adopt the pronouns? Begin to dress like a woman? Start hormone therapy? Have the reassignment surgery? I genuinely don’t have the answers which is why I’m happy to hear all views.

 

The example you posted above though is obviously an outlier. I tend to take a utilitarian view on most things in life though and the vast majority of the trans community just want to live their lives in the gender of their ‘choosing’ and aren’t out to cause upset or harm to anyone because of it.

Very far from uncommon from my position, which believe me makes having cut and dried opinions very hard

Hence my reluctance, and very possibly oversensitivity, to what I perceive as over simplified questions
