At the end of the day, we've all been living the deterioration of the country for the past 20 years and simultaneously voting in the party that has been promising us low taxes, and look where that's got us. More tax for a country that actually works is fine with me. It's the making it work part that needs to happen next though. Agreed. It's the super rich they need to be hammering so I'm happy for our level to take a hit so long as they are too. There's far too much 'dormant wealth' in the over 65s as well. My lass's Dad is sitting on an estate of close to 7 figures - he absolutely doesn't need it but is reluctant to spend it - what if I live to 100?! Meanwhile because some cunt ran off with her life savings, she was off the property ladder and couldn't get back on it. It took her brother to pretty much force him to release enough for a deposit so she could buy a place.
ewerk 39193
Is there actually a plan for anything other than to raise taxes in order to pay off the debt? We have seen fuck all in the way of ideas from the chancellor on how to grow the economy.
Rayvin 8347
I'm not impressed with any of this. I can't afford higher taxes, it makes everything I'm trying to do more difficult. I also resent paying for a calamity that we haven't confronted properly. 1

It's a percentage mind, so they'll have just been moving the thresholds around from which it applies, rather than raising the percentage itself. If you ask me, after all our austerity and privitisation, they should have been lowering it. We are now going to be paying more to get less.

And if they don't cooperate actually fucking carrying out the threat? Edited November 4 by PaddockLad

Its been rising every year due to fiscal drag. We are taxed to much on income, it needs to come from capital. Through some admittedly stupid decisions I am actually thinking about downsizing now. I can't afford to live.
Dazzler 16161
Them freezing the tax allowances have been an effective tax increase for years with inflation being through the roof. We've had tax increases in all but name. The tories being the worst offenders for it ironically.

Ayatollah Hermione 17238
They will absolutely not tax the mega rich IMO. Maybe I’m overly cynical but we’ll all be left with the burden. Again.

Howmanheyman 43884
Quote The 50-year-old, who was named on King Charles' Birthday Honours list earlier this year, was knighted by the King during a ceremony in Berkshire on Tuesday. "I couldn't be prouder," said Beckham. "People know how patriotic I am - I love my country. "I've always said how important the monarchy is to my family. "I'm lucky enough to have travelled around the world and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud." Alreet, Essex (Man U red) man, you've got your fucking knighthood you've been craving, you can wrap up all that monarchy arse licking if that's alright? Hopefully he's not about to run as a Reform candidate or anything like that. You can never be sure with these old cunts. wykikitoon 28509
Loads still clambering for Sinfield to be knighted. What he's done for the MND community is massive. But if it was me I wouldn't take it. RL has only just got their first knighthood this year and they try and claim its not about class. Fucking joke.
