This has been an entertaining series.

Absolutely and, while I want England to win, if India take the 4 (or maybe 3) wickets they need in the morning it would be fitting as a 3-1 defeat would be a very harsh score line from their point of view.

Sky had a shot of the dressing room with what looked like Woakes in his whites this afternoon, number XI maybe with one arm if a couple of runs needed !!!!!!

He was in his whites with his black sling on.

I agree with you, @Alex that a draw in the series is probably the fairest result.

On the other hand, I think they were extremely lucky to draw the last game. Maybe poor decision by England to bat for as long as we did.

I don't think games would have been so close if we could catch the damn ball, last test and this one particularly.

Although the same could probably be said of India earlier in the series

38 extras first innings, 6 dropped catches second innings and a terrible decision on the LBW of Overton, on DRS it just touched the stump, real time looked like it was going down all day, no way umpire was certain and he took an age to give it, if in doubt not out, umpires call on a not out would have been fair enough.

No, as Alex said yesterday 2-2 is far more reflective of the (brilliant)  series as a whole. When Brook gave his wicket away around tea time yesterday England were 94% to win. Thats where it was lost from...mental.. Siraj with the last wicket after he caught Brook on 20 over the rope

It was pure drama. As much as it is gutting, it was highly entertaining. It is amazing how a format of cricket that spans over 5 days can offer such high levels of excitement.

I love test cricket.

Was it Crawley's fault? 🙂

I think England threw it away but India and Siraj in particular deserved it, if that makes sense. The wickets England chucked away were daft and wtf was Smith doing? He can see it’s swinging and gets away with two play and misses so thinks “I better do that again”. Tbh, the hubris from England is still there and the Bazball with brains stuff would’ve been rolled out if they’d managed the series win.
As an aside, Bethell batting at 6 in a test match was a fucking mental selection. And I thought that before the game too. One first class game this season before the test. Averages in the mid 20s in red ball cricket and that’s skewed by a 96 v the kiwis (his highest first class score), only 21, no FC 100s and only a handful of 50s. On top of being absolutely nowhere near being a competent bowler at this level. Unbelievable arrogance even picking him in that role in such a crucial match and he contributed virtually nothing

Exactly.  While I can accept that they can see "something" in certain players, picking players who have not played red ball cricket (or any) recently was an absolute disgrace.

As for picking Overton, who shouldn't even be playing white ball cricket for England even if it is his better game, that was incredibly stupid.  While they could not legislate for Woakes' injury, even expecting him to play after a not particularly good series when he is 36 or 37 and being the only bowler to play all the tests, Overton was not the answer.  Arguably (and he isn't the answer either), Tongue should have played for one of Carse or Woakes in the last test.

Bethell did not deserve to be in ahead of Dawson, either.  I am sure Dawson would have got more runs that Bethell, Overton, and Tongue together.

As for Brook and Smith - fucking idiots. :(

Bad shirt stopped play, I scoured the crowd at every opportunity but I reckon the director had vetoed your section to protect the camera lenses.
