Dazzler 16216
The spending cap has been voted in. man city, man utd and villa all voted against it and chelsea abstained. Fuck know what it all means but there's going to be a spending cap now.
Gemmill 63312
Won't come in immediately (think it's not til 25/26), but the prevailing view seems to be that in the short to medium term, it'll be good news for us and will loosen the purse strings a decent amount. Surely that's the same for villa though, so a bit odd they'd vote against it. Unless they are so cock sure of themselves and think they'll be able to maintain top 4 form next year whilst getting bummed by celtic on Wednesday's

Not really, the 85% spending cap as a percentage of revenue still applies and is reduced to 70% by UEFA rules.

Is this not to replace the 85% spending cap? If not then what is the fucking point, it doesn't level anything. "You can spend c£400m this year, but only if it's less than 85% of your revenue" is fucking mentally over complicated.
ewerk 39291
I think it's basically to stop the biggest earning clubs taking advantage of the 85% figure as obviously that will be multiples of the revenue of the lowest earning club. But in effect I don't think this will really change anything as it's only really Man City and Chelsea that are adversely affected by it.

ewerk 39291
Yes but the anchoring element is irrelevant unless we can grow our revenues substantially.

Ayatollah Hermione 17238
My take on this new financial nonsense is that we wouldn’t have floated it and voted for it if it wasn’t going to help us bridge the gap

Gemmill 63312
Loans from 777 are the only thing that is keeping the club afloat. They can't make their commitments without these loans landing every month. If they suddenly dry up cos 777 is in difficulty of its own, then they're in major shit. I don't understand how they've been allowed to continue to be run like this by the PL. They can't meet their operating costs without a monthly bailout from this third party, who has only continued to lend them cash cos it had designs on buying them. For an organisation that likes to talk about sustainability, this is the definition of unsustainable.

You make some good points here, but I’m curious- should we deduct or add said points?

Gemmill 63312
It's the 30th of the month BTW. I wonder if they've been able to make their payroll cos that's what the loans from 777 were allowing. I think a failure to pay people is a fairly significant breach, it certainly is in the EFL.

Is he just refusing to put any more of this own money into the club? If so then that really is tremendous work by the Everton fans.
