Saw Deadpool last night, it was ok but the way people were describing it I thought it was going to be a lot funnier. I'm not massively into superhero-type movies so that could be a reason, I still enjoyed it mind.
People bringing their kids into it are mental mind  , the woman was rushing to cover the eyes of what looked like middle schoolers as we watched a good 5 minutes of about as close as a normal movie gets to a porno.

I'd have probably enjoyed it more if I hadn't heard all of the good reviews of it tbh. Either way it was a lot better than the film I watched tonight, Hitman: Agent 47, what a load of utter shite.

No critique of the Iraq invasion in any way. we went from Bradley Cooper watching the twin towers come down in one scene to suddenly him fighting the war against the Middle East "savages" in the next. It was totally moronic

Room. Of the films nominated for best picture, i've only seen this, Bridge of Spies, Mad Max and The Martian.

Room is the only one of those films that feels like an Oscar winner and deserving of its nomination. Gut-wrenching emotionally and beautifully executed. Best film i've seen for a while.

I enjoyed Room. It's certainly the best of the Oscar bait films you've seen Chez. Although those other three are all decent. Don't really think it was a great year for the Oscars. Spotlight was my favourite of the nominations and I'm glad it won. Likewise with the lass in Room getting the best actress award.

I watched Spotlight yesterday. Very good, but as usual absolutely minging stuff from the Catholic Church. I'm not having a go at anyone on here, but I cannot wrap my head around anyone introducing their kids to that organisation.

 I really mean it, I just don't understand it full stop. I'm not trying to pick a fight or offend anyone. The lad next to me at work is about to have his kid baptised and I'm sat there thinking "what the fuck arsehole? You have heard about this lot before, right?"

Personally don't understand it either. If it's something the kid chooses to get involved with later on when they're in a position to make an informed choice, then fine, whatever.

Indoctrinating* them early just doesn't sit comfortably with me though.

*couldn't think of a less pejorative word, sorry if it offends.

Brainwashing is more honest.

As evidenced by the Irish Cardinal stating they'd failed to educate the young "properly" because they don't hate gays.

Aye, it should be illegal to have a school where admissions are prioritised based on someone's religion.

As far as the bloke at work goes, he's Catholic and was brought up as such, so I'm not sure it's a schooling thing. Either way though, my point stands. This lot have pretty much proven that, from the highest levels of the organisation down to the lowest levels, they can't be trusted with people's kids.

I'm surprised any Christian church is still going in this country. I don't think I've ever met anyone under the age of 60 who goes for anything other than births, marriages and deaths. I've got a few mates who were raised catholic and not one of them sets foot in a church. Surely society has reached a level now where we can dispense with witchcraft and noncery.

People still got to watch Sunderland play I suppose.

Prob school related tbh more than his parents being staunchly religious

That's something me and my lass have spoken about for the future; feigning religion to make sure the kid gets into a good school. Totally hypocritical, but I don't care as long as little Bravado & Comedy get the best education going.

Those little ratbags will be in borstal by the time they're 10.

Only because they'll be doing research for their doctorate/doing a Johnny Cash-esque tour of Prisons to promote their new album.
