Doing the right thing for your granny would be to go and see her when she was dying in a care home but my mate couldn’t do that

The bit where his kid went to hospital and he reckons he (DC) could barely stand up and was presumably stotting off walls with his wobbly eyes..... But the next morning he got in the car to pick his wife and kid up. Fucking Jimmy Hill.

Also, as has been pointed out by some clever fucker on twitter, his kid going to hospital with his wife is EXACTLY what the lockdown rules were trying to avoid - people driving the virus across the country and spreading it in new locations, possibly overloading hospitals in the process.

This is what I meant about the story not going away. Unless he resigned or something the press conference was always going to be a charade. The slight worry for me was that there was going some revelation that got him off the hook. There wasn’t. It’s s bonus that he was so unconvincing with his story but the real problem for the government is the analysis in the coming days. Like I also said he’s chosen to try and blame it all on the press so they aren’t going to make it any easier for him

He has to go.  No doubt he was sent out to see the reaction of the public and if they bought it.  Nah, we're not mugs Boris.  You're gonna have to let him go.

Johnson has backed him too much to sack him now, the only way he could do so now is if new evidence comes to light that the PM claims he wasn’t aware of.

If this had have been a government minister then Cummings would’ve sacked them the minute the story broke.

I would imagine it’ll play well with the sort of people who won’t send their kids back to school but did take them to the coast for an ice cream this weekend. I can’t even pretend to be able to gauge the general public any more though.

I missed the presser as I said earlier I took my kids to the beach for a swim, its 100 metres from the house,  I wouldn'tgo there otherwise. Water was surprisingly warm actually. Anyway, it was nice day and a bank holiday, so I expected it to be busy. But any pretence of social distancing is out the window now. There were large groups of people socialising, clearly not of the same household. Groups of 30 plus teenagers/students, extended families, especially asian families, although I recognised several families from school in large groups as well (surfers). Loads of alcohol being drunk, BBQs, pissing in the sand dunes. Even saw some lesbian activity.

I'm not wanting to he a kill joy here, but I honestly believe that the hypocrisy of our politicians has led to this and ultimately people will die as a result. I kind of feel resigned to us having a second wave now. Or maybe the risk of transmission outside really is very small and it will be okay, let's hope so. So sick of the situation though.

Why wasn't this asked?

Probably better it wasn’t. He’s not going to do another press conference in a hurry after that performance. The more unanswered questions that emerge the more his credibility is damaged
