elliot for £40m, or elanga for £60m?

Elanga. If we want to compete with Liverpool, buying players that can't get into their team isn't the answer. Nor is making their lives easier from a PSR point of view.

'Liverpool would want £40m plus buy back option'

When he's came on under Klopp as well as Slot he looks a good player but he's coming onto the field with very good players against teams who will be tiring against a good Liverpool team. From what I've seen I wouldn't be disappointed if we were to get him here but there's other priorities and it would have to be a good deal for us and I'd frankly tell them to fuck off if they wanted a buy-back/sell on option. If they rate him as highly then they'll be starting him most matches next season, eh Ornstiein?

If he can be as good for us as the last scouser who was player of the tournament, he'll do.

Not sure what Elliotts ceiling is if he came in. Liverpool aren't a joke club like Everton etc and bar Nunez, don't have too many flips so there may not be much more to work with compared to the likes of Gordon etc

It's not either or to me tbh, I think we're looking at both these sorts of players. l'm surprised at you mate, thought you'd be creaming yourself at the thought of a no. 10 type attacking player and a RW. I'd be a bit surprised if it's Elliott but he's the sort of player we need to break down the 11 men behind the ball merchants of the league. Not sure if he'd come here though, he doesn't get in the fully fit first XI which is precisely where he is at Liverpool. Same as paying big money for another striker. We need these players for squad depth but identifying those who would definitely come is fuckin tricky.. as for Elanga am wondering how much influence Isak has had on this...is this a stab at keeping him happy?..

Elanga has had good returns for 2 seasons now and he has 5 years of Prem experience at only 23. He's hard working. Id say he was a good fit regardless of whether he's Isaks mate. If Isak wants him here it's a bonus.

Yeah am certainly not against Elanga. We're going to pay through the nose for the fucker but I think it's going to get done....

I'm not so sure it'll get done. By the sounds of it Forest have no interest in selling. Remember last window when we were chasing a player whose club had no interest in selling him?

We're gonna have to pay way over the odds, and we spent the entire window last year failing to get close to a figure that Palace couldn't say no to. When you've got a club that don't want to sell, "that's not enough" will be the answer to every bid until we're offering absolutely crazy money. And even then, if you don't want to sell, see if you can get these idiots to go another £5m.

If it’s true that others are interested in Elanga, we’re going to have to bite the bullet and pay what they want tbh. Because if not, he’ll just go to Villa or Arsenal. Or probably fucking Chelsea and we’ll be left with our cock in our hand again

he's a left footer who can play in midfield or as an inverted RW. i think he's an exciting prospect. doesn't have the blistering pace of elanga but i think he has a higher technical ceiling. he could be a smart buy for £30-40m.

I recently overheard a well known local journalist on the phone talking about our transfer business, saying that he spoke to Eddie who seems pretty down about things. Which is obviously wonderful news.

i don't think they have many PSR worries tbh, so £40m on a young prospect who can't get regular football for them isn't the worst idea.

he could end up being another Hall/Livramento type signing, were it to happen. it also appears £40m is towards the upper end of what the club feel comfortable paying for a single player. if rumours are to believed we won't go as high as the £55-60m the likes of Chelsea are happy to throw at every signing.

I suspect you'd more likely find that we don't value Elliott at £40m and we'd go in with an opening bid of 25 or something. Same as we're currently doing with Trafford.

Only times we've gone over 50 was to get Isak and Tonali, and we got both at a relative steal in hindsight.

Exactly, there's no chance he is a complete flop. Has a good injury record. Hard working, fast, unselfish player, both footed. Young and can improve. Won't currently be on huge wages. He should be a massive priority for us.

I cannot reveal my sources but I will reveal that I spotted him from a distance and shifted through the gears to full turbo-waddle to catch up with him in the hope that we were on a transfer business call.
