IIRC from the time it was Len White’s record before Goddard broke it. The stuff that sticks in your mind, man. Whereas if I go in the garage I can’t even remember what the fuck I went in for 2
Craig 12386
The end of 86/87 was really enjoyable because of that purple patch Goddard went on. IIRC we all knew Beardsley was on his way in the summer and if memory serves me right, he'd gone massive off the boil that season.

Beardsley was injured for the run in, that's mostly why Goddard was playing. Cunningham was still wandering around trying to be a footballer too, can't remember who else was up front? Think Mavis and Whitehurst had gone by then?...
Howmanheyman 43945
Goddard and I think a young long haired Darren Jackson getting the odd game up front, Andy Thomas was weighing in with some goals too from midfield, gazza was injured but made a difference when fit.

Apropos of nothing, when I worked down Ipswich, I stayed at the Belstead Brook (very posh) hotel for a while, I wasn't paying btw, when checking in lass on reception said "Oh you're from near Newcastle, my dad is Paul Goddard, do you rember him?" I said I did, and would she tell him he's fondly remembered and thank him, she said "I will, he'll be made up, he still talks about his time at Newcastle, he loved it". Same hotel, I had the chance to push the smoggies Ravanelli and all, who were staying there, down the stairs like dominoes but bottled it.

It's him, not a certain young lad from Dunston, we missed the most following the summer exodus of 1988. I'm sure I read somewhere it was to do with his missus being homesick yet rather than end up back in London they went to Derby!

That would seem to knock the homesick story on the head, pretty sure until probably Bobby Lee every cockney player here there were homesick stories, probably from southern sources who can't understand folks being happy "up north". Craig 12386
I remember Peacock wanting a move back to London but that was down to having a disabled son and wanting to be nearer his family

Howmanheyman 43945
I'd give them the benefit of the doubt on that tbh, probably just a bollock dropped taking over a small existing kiosk at the central station and maybe getting old kiosk train tat? (At least I'd like to think so).
Howmanheyman 43945
Also it's bound to have been pointed out to them so wouldn't be expecting to see it still there.

Meenzer 18039
At least it's one of the few bits of Farage paraphernalia that actually acknowledges the fact that he's a posh cunt
Alex 42155
I would say that, given you can buy a ‘Golli’ badge on their website then it’s 100% deliberate by the Back Page. I’ve occasionally bought stuff there in the past but they can fuck right off. The stupid fucking cunts https://www.tbpsportsmemorabilia.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=7269&Itemid=34 (bottom left) 1

Alex 42155
I wonder how much of the money goes to the Royal British Legion from their Poppy / Blue Star badges as well. Absolutely fuck all I would suggest, given they don’t mention any amount in the website. Not that most of the knackers who wear that sort of thing care about the actual cause. At least not beyond weaponising it
Gemmill 63247
I drove down the John Reid Road in South Shields yesterday, and the full length of it is flags. Both sides of the road, on every lamp post, all the flags at the same height on the lamp post. It's properly been organised by some committee of arseholes. 1

They have their own YouTube and TikTok channel. The flags even go into the surrounding housing estates. 2

It is like they are trying to convince other people that they are men and that they are part of something worthwhile. Their nationality and sex are not something that they have achieved. Sad times.
