Yeah we touched on that the other day, I suspect when we said "no" we really, really, meant it. And as Tom Petty would say "I won't back down" (if he wasn't dead of course). Christmas Tree 6703
46 minutes ago, MrBass said: That's pointless. Liverpool will continue to "be interested" right up until the window closes to provide maximum disruption to the start of our season. As far as they're concerned, they're not doing anything wrong - they made a bid, we said no, they said they wouldn't make another unless we gave them the green light. IF that was how things worked, then that would be the saga done and dusted. We all know that's not how it works though. Liverpool have their media chums to keep stirring the pot so Isak and his agent think there's still a chance to get the move done. Once that window closes is when this starts to get fixed. While I understand your POV, I disagree. I think a public statement would cut a lot of it off at the knees.
Gemmill 63306
But it worsens our position with the player. A player who we are going to be stuck with for another season. Because then we blocked his move instead of the buying club failing to meet our valuation. It doesn't make any sense to do what you're saying. Other than short term satisfaction of "yeah! We're the ones who killed that off, we're the boss!"
Rayvin 8367
RAWK is in full on delusional meltdown about this now. There is a single NUFC fan over there (no, not Fish) trying to reason with them and they're carrying on like RTG
Craig 12389
Yeah a public statement is not going to achieve anything positive. It certainly won’t stop the media circus between now and when the window closes and allow the pressers to be focused on anything but (which is the point I think CT is trying to suggest). Those repeated questions are coming regardless.

Gemmill 63306
Also, Isak's position is basically done now. They've gone nuclear with won't play even if he's still here. There's no more noise they can really make. Whats next? "OK ok, how about this? I won't play if I'm still here AND I'll do a poo on Eddie Howe's car bonnet every day."
MrBass 4205
Just waiting for one of the fake accounts to put out a headline like that now They've already done the restraining order against Howe, so nothing would surprise me anymore.

Toonpack 15611
There is absolutely no need for any statement from the club. Our position is "he's not for sale" why do we need to say it again? It serves absolutely no purpose.

Gemmill 63306
Wasn't 4 months ago they were booing one of their players for the crime of just wanting to leave. And behaving fairly impeccably throughout.

If it follows the private legal ultimatum to the player, then he’s in no uncertain terms where he stands and HAS to either strike or pipe down. I just think allowing it to rumble on and possible toxic crowds makes Howes job harder. Unless of course behind the scenes they are confident of getting players in to replace him

Rayvin 8367
I love the idea that we're winning the propaganda war We've said basically fuck all compared to their fleet of media bellends, and yet we're winning? Maybe it's because to the objective eye, they've behaved like cunts. I also like the guy who thinks they'll get Isak for £50m next summer because of all this. Absolute dreamer. 2

Outside of the noise from the scouse client "journalists" we have zero idea what's really going on or being said, behind the closed doors.

They were in the second division and had never won the FA Cup (still the biggest domestic prize then) when Real Madrid were winning their 5th European Cup We'd won the then prize competition in English football 6 times (six) before they won it for the first time in 65. Liverpool invested big time for a then 2nd division club and nothing wrong with that but obviously it was ok then but not so much when they've sorted themselves. See arsenal in the late 20s/early 30s. Edited August 13 by Howmanheyman
