Let's be absolutely clear. It's not VAR / Lee Mason who fucked us over, that's the referee on the pitch who's made that call.

Fair play to Trippier for trying to talk to him and telling everyone else to fuck off. True captain we have there.

Now Craig that is incorrect as the VAR referee has called him to look at the incident, so Lee Mason has initiated the review.

It wasn’t even worth showing the ref. Who controls the angles shown because the ref didn’t see what we saw.

As one commentator pointed out, what was Willock supposed to have done? What course of action was he meant to have taken to avoid being pushed into the keeper by a Palace defender?

The goalkeeper appeared to be taken out in the process of a goal being scored, it was absolutely going to be reviewed and calls like that these days are always put down to the on-field referee's discretion given the vast criticism in the early days of VAR where the final decision was being made in Stockley Park.

The on-field ref has fucked up here - Mason has just done what he was obliged to do.

Which under the guidelines of VAR he is obliged to do!

Does the ref send stuff up to VAR?

Think they look at all goals or red card incidents regardless of the referee and then are supposed to interject should there be a clean and obvious error, exactly like what we didn't see there.

What’s he obliged to do like? Look for fouls where there are none? Have a fundamental lack of understanding about the sport he’s overseeing?

Absolute nonsense. The VAR reviews it but only sends it to the ref if he thinks he’s made a clear and obvious error.
