I'd be up for scrapping VAR. Automate offside technology and keep the goal line technology, but scrap everything else. It just gives two opportunities for big club bias to take place

That's why the Arsenal one annoyed Arteta so much - we've seen all of the usual suspects have goals against them pored over for aeons looking for the slightest reason to chalk them off compared to a quick glance the other way around.

 ok mr ex bookie what are the odds on us getting more than a point? Look at our away record man. I’m not too disappointed with this season all things taken into account but ffs at least be realistic unlike the fuckin odds compilers here… 3/1 for the draw is like buying money 😆

Believe it or not, they didn't let the 18 year old Saturday lad compile the odds for that day's fixtures.

The fact we've only drawn twice in 18 away matches this season is likely a factor in those odds though.

But BY ALL MEANS, go ahead and make that bet, Mr McCririck! You know best!

How on earth did Hojlunds goal squirm in man. Shocking keeping.

I always thought Dubravka was an ok keeper, but having a couple of seasons of Pope has shown there's so much room for improvement. And if rumours are to be believed, we are also interested in upgrading Pope at some point

Aye that Georgian ‘keeper at Valencia keeps getting rumoured.

we must have a lot more £ to spend this summer FFP wise if we’re planning on upgrade Pope as it’s certainly not a priority. Or we’re worried he won’t come back to the same keeper after his injury.

or the rumours are just bullshit.

I was raging last night, but I've calmed down a lot. Like Gemmill says our path is upwards and while this result was disappointing, it's not the reason we aren't going to finish 6th. Look to the Brighton, Luton and Forests results for that. Even then Given the nature of this season, finishing 7th or 8th is remarkable. We've had an injury crisis, the likes of which I've never seen here. We've had extra games which has stretched our squad even more.

Not just the number of injuries, but losing absolutely pivotal players has done for us. Joelinton and Pope have missed 18 and 23 league games respectively. Willock and Tonali have only been available for 9 games. Wilson and Barnes have both missed about 1/2 the season as well. And yet, here we are with a shot of European football.

Man Utd did what they've done all fucking season; played shite, but benefited from poor defending from the opponent and poor officiating from the referee. They shouldn't have scored 2, let alone 3.

Pope and Joelinton should both start against Brentford, give Longstaff a fucking rest and Dubravka the bench. If Trippier is 100% fit, play him alongside Schar and Burn and Hall. If not, shift Krafth out there.

Their luck btw

- Isak missing a 1 on 1

- Ciggy missing a 1 on 1

- Penalty missed by VAR

- Casemiro's goal line clearance

- Gordon scoring

- Hall scoring

and they still managed to come away with 3 points

Two seasons ago we were a club in perennial relegation battles, and we turned up last night having already beaten these twice this season, home and away.

These are the stats from the home PL game.

Screenshot_20240516-071218.thumb.png.10c4683f3b11eaa4d4063e186b8c2551.png

We absolutely battered them, and we had the better of the action last night, and we're probably about to finish ahead of them in the league.

I haven't posted the EFL stats cos they don't collect as many in that competition.

This is two seasons after being permanent relegation battlers.

I would say we're at least on a level with them now, although I actually think we're better than them. And if we've made up that much ground, that quickly, we'll kick on from here.

The tide is turning, but even Man City can turn up to their place and get beat.

I kept your comments about Trippier in cos I think they're incredibly harsh and, days on from you going in on people for criticising Almiron, Burn, etc, a little hypocritical.

I was implying he was unfit and shouldn’t have played. He is the best full back I’ve ever seen play for us but he was not match fit.  It’s a lot different to slagging off every bad decision that Longstaff/Almiron/Burn make.

I don’t know what’s going on with him but he only had a weeks training (in Dubai?!) after being out 2.5 months.  It’s Howes fault more than anything but maybe he was trying to manage game time between him and Schar. We are completely stretched for personnel at the back.

I assume it was just Livramento being out and he decided that Schar was more of a risk than Trippier.

Aye, 8 points dropped against Luton and Forest. We'd be 2 points clear in 5th with those.

And if we hadn't dropped fucking 5 points against Everton, we'd be back in the CL next year.

A lot of these results came when we were mired in an injury crisis, but these are the games that have really cost us this season.

Progress is pretty much a guarantee for this club now though, which is the great thing about it.

That's the thing. We are seeing progress.

Under Ashley would we have seen us get two of the most promising full backs in the league and have hope of them sticking with us for the next 5+ years? Nah, the cunt would have sold them ASAP.

Even just winning our home games against Luton and Forest (17th and 19th at the time) would have given us 4 extra points. And Joelinton and Pope aside, we had a good amount of strength available. Well, enough to not concede 7 goals, Martin.

So the ref didn’t give the pen and neither did VAR?… sounds like a case of just following the on field decision.

That's the problem, though. It seems as though the on field referee is scared to make a decision, knowing VAR is there to check and let him know, whereas the VAR then follows the on field decision.  Someone needs to take responsibilty, either on or off field, but both seem to be abrogating that responsibility.

It was a clear and obvious error.  That's precisely what VAR's DNA was about, surely.

I am more annoyed about the points we dropped at home against Liverpool and Everton from winning positions as well against West Ham away in the dying minutes because of stupidity and lack in concentration.

The concept of VAR IMO is good.

Its how it implemented.  I.e crooked useless CUNTS.

I think they are completely inept rather than crooked. It becomes tens time worse when you have several replays rather than live action. In this case I think the VAR official was purely looking at whether Casemiro got a touch or not. He completely missed Amarabat assaulting Gordons ankle

If we rule out every error we made all season we win the league. That's what sets Man City apart from every other team. They become a juggernaut the last 15 games of every season. We need incremental improvements

And this changes from week to week. It's very difficult to determine  a "clear and obvious" error. There is too much grey area of what that even means

Gloomy has gone from winning the last 3 games at a breeze to slam,  back to reality,

To be fair we could still get beat and finish above Man Utd. Hopefully Brighton turn up

yeah, we blew it, sadly. Thought we played well yesterday and deserved something from the game. It was the no show at home to Brighton that fucked us.

we can beat brentford away but we’re no longer in control of our own destiny. Who knows whether the players will be up for it, or whether they’ll fancy one final push when the prize is the conference league

Aye, standard Man U performance. Look shite but still somehow manage to get a result.

We're in control of a conference place (assuming Man City smash those lucky cunts to oblivion). Hopefully Schar and Tino are fully fit. Its time for Big Joe to get a starting spot as well

yeah, pope too (assuming he's fit enough as he has been on the bench) dubravka was at fault for two of their goals yesterday
