To me he hasn't looked happy either - I think he was really enjoying being central to the club in the first couple of years of the takeover, scoring in big games, doing all the soft marketing stuff, getting on interviews etc. Now when I see him come on he just looks...low? At 27 he's arguably going into his best years as a midfielder, not sure he'd want to just be stuck on the bench with no real prospect of ever getting further than that.

He might be worth keeping if we end up in Europa or Conference leagues.

im not sure who is going to drop £20-30m on him.

Everton? He looks every inch a David Moyes player.

Leeds, if they get promoted maybe. Not too far from home.

Or he might look at what McTominay did at Napoli and consider a move abroad. He’s a similar player technically to Sean

I'm wondering if Fish hasn't realised we're talking about Longstaff  Tbf to him, half of this thread supposedly dedicated to Barnes is now on Sean.

Unless the idea is that Longstaff is going to be racing down the wing for us.

I think there was a point when Longstaff looked good as a midfield destroyer. He was reading the game well, breaking up play and covering a lot of ground for us when the team was doing well. That was only going to last for a while though, because like Almiron, the technical and physical attributes just aren't there to be a regular start for a CL/cup winning side (😎)

Hopefully the likes of Everton, West Ham will stump up 20M or so and he goes onto have a decent career with them.

I'd agree with this. I think he looks sick of his life and you can see his frustration whenever he comes on and makes a mistake or misplaces a pass. He looks like he needs a run in the team to get any sharpness back, but we can't afford to give him a run in the team.

I hope he goes for his own good really. I'd love to see him get a good send off cos he's been a big part of the club's story for the last while and it's not his fault the club has moved on from him a bit.

I know this is the Barnes thread but continuing on Longy, I feel a bit sorry for his position. Arguably he was doing the dirty work well but he's the kind of player who needs regular football to get the best out of him. At some point he became the scapegoat and the point of fans frustration which must be soul destroying for a player who is also a fan. He probably knows the writing is on the wall, doesn't want to leave but knows that he won't get game time sitting here on the bench.

Also cant be easy seeing Tonali come in and absolutely take the piss

Poor old Sean would have fallen over, given the ball away, and the committed a foul on the edge of our box. :)

Perhaps Fish has taken to treating everyone else’s posts the same way others treat his ;)

Have all his home goals been scored at the Gallowgate ? I can’t remember any at Leazes.

The two in the league cup vs Brentford were at the leazes end.

Longstaff has never raced anywhere in his life.

False. Stick him on the edge of the box and he'll start a race immediately trying to find the grass before the opposition player's foot makes contact. He wins. Every time.
