The Elanga

Recommended Posts

Looks part of the gang already in the first days of his time with us. Looking forward to seeing him rip up that right hand side in the upcoming pre-season games.

Club have confirmed Elanga will wear the number 20 shirt. Lewis Hall is getting the number 3 shirt.

1-11, no names on the back, make them actually fight for the shirt. It's not a new phenomenon but I still think names and squad numbers are shite, I don't care how many years it's been in use now.

This would only work to make me laugh watching Trippier and Burn have to wear each others shirts. Burn in a crop top number 2 and Trippier in a number 5 or 6 nightie.

I can tell you that Dan Burn's shirt is not actually that big.

I have one of these thrown to the kids by the man himself and it fits me nicely and I'm 6'.

“I have a fantastic coach who I can learn so much from. I like the team so much. I know we’re going to have a good season."

“He’s the best coach I’ve had. He helps me so much. On and off the pitch. It’s not just him. But the leaders around him too. I already feel that I’ve improved even though I’ve only been there for two and a half months."

“I could talk about him all day. But everything, everything, everything. The coach is very smart, and he is very wise."

“He knows what he is doing and that we will have a lot of games. The way we play as a team demands a lot from the body. It is high intensity. He tries to keep everyone fresh and ready. I can’t complain.”

he's largely right mind. elanga on the whole has been shite.

Like Gloomy said. He was great v Barca and Liverpool. Two games he got hooked when he shouldn't have.

It's early days. He will get there.

we paid £55m for a player who at the moment is a downgrade on murphy.

ive seen nowt to justify why howe has put him straight in the team ahead of the latter.

That's like saying we spent £40m on Ramsey who is a downgrade on Bruno.

Murphy is 31 this season and his output last season was an anomaly compared with the rest of his career. Elanga was bought as a long term replacement and needs more than 2 months of football to learn Howe's methods and build up a bit of form.

Aye I'm sure he'll get there. He'll still quite young as well - only 23 - so he's not the finished article anyway by a long stretch. But it's gonna take time to integrate properly.

It's frustrating as fuck cos we saw him have a great season at Forest, but they played a totally different game to us.

Between him and Gordon I'd be more concerned about Gordon, a lad who has been here years now and continues to frustrate more often than he has good games. And that's been going on for some time now.

howe's put him in to the team from the outset.

I hate watched the sweden kosova game the other night, elanga was brought on and played on the left wing. he actually looked more dangerous there than he has for us on the right for the overwhelming majority of his games.

I hope the lad comes good for us, that goes without saying.

however, on the whole he's been poor, murphy is the starter out of the 2 for me.

I agree Howe needs to go back to Murphy as first choice. I don't think it's helping Elanga to keep starting him, and then have Murphy come on and make him look like a mug when he grabs a quick assist or whatever. He looks low on confidence anyway and that isn't helping - let him be the one to come on to tired legs and hopefully build him up a bit that way.

Isn’t Murphy still carrying an Achilles injury? Might explain why Elanga started, particularly if the plan is to start Murphy on Tuesday.
