Despite him moving around a lot for a supposed top keeper he does have a sense of loyalty and effort in the way he plays so he should have passed the Howe attitude test. Worth a try. There's no guarantee that Trafford develops to be a top GK so (searching for silver linings) this could be a better (and cheaper) option for us. We've missed out on him big time, but it is what it is and we need to move on from it. Probably the biggest fuck up in goalkeeping terms since we refused to pay £700k to Brondby for some fella called Schmeichel in 1987 only to burn an extra £150k 18 months later on some bloke called Beasant. He has that presence about him but plenty of keepers do and then stumble at some point. Ironically Pickford has had the greatest longevity in the England side. Henderson was supposed to be the next big thing but never kicked on. It'd be great if a fresh start meant that Ramsdale no longer makes errors, but can't see it. You don't get moved on as readily as he has been if your team has full confidence in you ability. That said it should be a vastly different proposition playing for us versus Southhampton. City always had the last say. If we agreed a fee earlier there's every chance City would have done the same thing anyway. They were happy with him playing consistently for Burnley in order to develop knowing that they could snap their fingers and bring him back at any time. Smart contract for them.
