love R.E.M although a lot of the newer stuff was pretty much long past their best

*didn't mind accelerate though

Aye, don't think they had another "great" album in them tbf, some canny tracks on Collapse Into Now though.

Will bang some classic REM on all night i think, in tribute to one of my all time favourite bands calling it a day <_<

Is it a coincidence they split the day after Stipe whipped his Old Man out online?

Feeling Gravitys Pull?

Yes, he's got his cock out, so NSFW.

Regarding R.E.M., it's true to say that Bill Berry leaving them caused a drop in quality (though I still think Up is a good album), but I also think the mega-dollars deal (90 million or something) they did with Warner around the time of New Adventures in Hi-Fi also did them no good, quality-wise.

Without that deal, they would have finished around the time of Up or Reveal. Instead they were obliged to keep churning it out. The drop in their popularity from the heights of Out Of Time and Automatic (combined with the overall drop in music sales) would, I imagine, mean that Warner did not recoup anywhere near the costs they would have assumed they'd make with the band after the deal was made.

I'd be almost certain that they know they've not been any good (maybe a song here or two — but compared to what they once were?) for at least 10 or more years now.
