Whits the blue star for??” A few months later Neil and his dad took me to my first game so I could see for myself. There’s no doubt in my mind that the first Umbro kit with the S&N blue star is the greatest kit of the early 80s ie when shirt sponsorship first started in England

I couldn't get away with Lego or Meccano at all. Probably why I had no interest in DT at school which I wished I had of shown more interest for being an adult. My patience with stuff like that was nil, same with art. If it didn't look right straight away I'd go in a huff with it.

One thing is absolutely certain, irrespective of how good a new crest may be there are going to be scores of people out there who hate it because it’s not the one they’re used to. When the current crest came out in 1988, I hated it and I associated it for a long time with failure - the last season using the NUFC ball logo we finished 8th; the first season of the new crest we finished bottom. It was only when we started being successful in 92/93 that I started to warm towards it. If when we change it, we have a hugely successful campaign, people will soon forget about it and move on.
