Wasn't there a lot of criticism of the embroidery of the crest on the Castore shirts? Particularly around the lettering and the lion atop the castle?
-
It would be good if we could have the new badge on the home shirt and the old badge on the away.
-
I can't get myself exercised about this. I wonder if this is part of the reason you can't even see the crest on some of the more recent gear though.
-
I’ve done the survey In conjunction with the FAB they’ve decided to upgrade the current badge and there’s a video explaining what each component part represents ie castle, lion/flag, sea horses, scroll with club name etc… so then they ask which of the components you think would be the most important on any new badge. They’re going to come up with a range of choices after this excercise then they’ll be a vote. Fairly sure any new design won’t be on next season’s strip but happy to be corrected by those who may know better. My preferred design would be something along these lines…

This is apparently doing the rounds ...

That’s a Modernist classic from where I’m sat

Just re-reading the statement on the club website, I wondering if it may already be designed and this exercise is little more than lip service to ward off any "you never involved the fans" backlash. The timing is relevant as with new shirt production imminent, they'll have to have the design signed off. Fan Advisory Board have clearly been consulted already and it's their call to survey the wider fan base but it's focused on 'what elements of the current badge are to be retained?'
-
The bottom line is most Western governments are just Ponzi schemes scraping by with all their credit cards maxed out. There’s very little any shade of politician can do “within the accepted rules” to change anything. Much higher taxes, privatising the NHS etc All the things no politician will properly go near because they want to hang around for another 5 years.
-
Northampton Saints RFC did the same exercise last year - on the same notion that the old badge didn't translate to a digital age. My opinion of it is that losing specific references to the city is shame. You can end up with a generic cartoon like badge.
-
As far as I can see there is absolutely zero difference between the economic policies of Labour and the Cameron/Osborne government The only point of difference is Cameron and Osbourne admit Brexit is a disaster

Beat me to it, but mine is probably more likely -
Been chatting with a ST holder who got the survey. It's basically asking which of the elements (shield / seahorses / banner) of the current badge can be removed - scoring each element 1-10. Sounds all the world as though it's about minimalising the current badge and they've called out what Juventus did with theirs as an example. In that event, it's a no from me - if they want to do a complete redesign that's one thing but to bastardise the current badge?

They didn't. It's apparently 'Because the current crest is a raster-based image that doesn’t scale well across different platforms.' (unless someone's having me on?) So the new crest will be a Bob Marley mash up. New run out anthem... 🎵...he was a Gallowgate soldier, Taken from Leazes end, Sent to the Corner, Fighting for survival, Fighting in the resale He was a Gallowgate soldier, Taken from East Stand, Sent into exile Fighting for the survival Fighting in the resale...🎶

So it feels like Labour are forcing cuts and budget problems through the public sector and letting the chips fall where they will. How many people's lives are getting fucked up by this nonsense man.
-
lets face it, if it's anything but turbo shit it will have exceeded expectations, but honestly, who really cares?

Couldn’t really give two fucks but the idea they’re changing it because of difficulty incorporating the badge in a “digital world” is complete bullshit. Just tell the truth and say it’s a corporate branding exercise -
Just needs the VAR lines drawing.
-
It's a PR exercise to make it look like they're engaging with the fans. The crest will be done by some fucker in a design agency who hasn't got a clue about the club or the city.
-
This gets my vote marra

As others have pointed out the admin overhead for managing the sensitivity required would be massive. I've long since resigned to the notion that if I want to have direct involvement in how the club is run I need to pay the £37 annual membership fee and if I don't, I need to accept decisions are made without an opportunity to present my view. It's far better than it used to be. In the past, the board made decisions and we'd just have to accept it. When they changed they last changed the badge in the summer of 1988 there was no consultation and no-one was aware until they revealed the team photo for the coming season.
-
Do you reckon the club asked the fans opinion when they changed the badge is the past?
-
My lass, a teacher of 25 years, had the word redundancy chucked at her recently. The pay rises that teachers have had recently, and the ones currently being decided upon have involved no additional funding from government who just say the schools need to find it from their existing budgets. Which as you can imagine, are already stretched further than they should go. It's fucking ridiculous.

God forbid it's anything like this old abortion, always hated this one
