You're right about my ex, but I lived in China myself for a year so that's what has been throwing me a bit I don't think I ever had this particular experience though. My only lasting memory of interactions with their police was when I got there and was told "religious expression is permitted in China but don't let us see you doing it" and "there are no hookers in China due to upstanding social morality, but if there were, and you used one, we'd knack you".

There was another poster who was living in China and had some bother. Because your ex (I think, apologies if that’s inaccurate) has Chinese heritage people have conflated the two of you. At least that’s my interpretation
