£30m for him is nuts. Sell him - seriously.

Barton signing a new contract is as good as a player coming in to me. Was seriously concerned he was heading for the exit.

The argument does my head in because there are so many factors to consider that it's not really tangible. Newcastle United are a well established club with a considerably large fanbase who've had periods in the past where we've been amongst the most successful in the country. Are we a big club? To me they are and they always will be as I'm a one club person. To everyone else I really couldn't give a fuck.

Was listening to a phone in on the radio before the end of the Fulham / Spurs match when a Spurs fan rang in complaining they didn't turn up so he left the ground after 30mins. Presenter accused him of hypocrasy so the bloke uttered an expletive and hung up!

What a surprise... you're on both! Wrong again.

Birmingham City have completed the signing of former Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins. Martins is currently with Russian club Rubin Kazan, who have revealed that they have loaned him to Blues until the end of the season. The 26-year-old Nigeria international moved to Russia last summer from Wolfsburg for a reported fee of €17million, but he has not settled and Kazan have now sanctioned his returned to England. Martins, who began his career with Inter Milan, moved to Newcastle in 2006 and spent three years at St James' Park before a switch to Wolfsburg in 2009. "He has just had a child and he asked to be let go to England, as he wants to go closer to his family," Rubin coach Kurban Berdyev confirmed. Rubin stated on their website that Martins had gone on loan for six months. It is reported that Martins shunned a move to West Bromwich Albion to join Birmingham http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6706293,00.html

As has been pointed out to me by a colleague this morning. On the day we were relegated, Manchester United played at Hull City who themselves were in with a strong shout of going down. Previous game against Arsenal the line-up was: Van Der Sar, O'Shea, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Ronaldo, Fletcher, Carrick, Giggs, Rooney, Tevez Line up against Hull 8 days later was: Kuszczak, Rafael, Neville, Brown, de Laet, Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Welbeck, Martin, Macheda The only person who started both games was Fletcher and that was only because he was ineligable for the forth-coming CL final after being sent off against Arsenal in the semi-final. So they imposed 10 changes, had a vastly weakened team in a game that had a massive influence on who stayed in league. But they won so they got off. Stinks to high heaven!!!

Aye they have 14 days. Not quite sure to what level this appeal goes to like. The FA fucked up by taking action against Wolves. It set a massively dangerous precedent which clearly they've decided they're unable to contradict. Hilarious thing about it all is if they hadn't themselves brought in the 25 squad member ruling, this wouldn't even be up for discussion! FWIW I think it was wrong to take action against Wolves as well though.
-
You absolute wacko! It isn't comparable to Wolves on the simple basis that when they did it, the 25 man squad sumbissions weren't in force. In this example, the FA have asked Blackpool to name the 25 players they wish to nominate for selection, sanctioned that submission and then fined them £25k for 11 of the 25 players that the FA themselves said was perfectly fine to choose from only a couple of months previously. Other factors to include are that it was early on in the season, and therefore not having a massive impact on the outcome of finishing positions plus they weren't exactly beaten off the park by Villa - they narrowly lost 3-2. Someone made the presumably humourous point that we should be fined for fielding Perch but in all honesty, how is that different to Blackpool's situation when it's not abundantly clear the reasons for coming to the conclusion they did? It stinks to high heaven and I'll be amazed if they don't appeal. 99% of football fans around the country will side with them too.

Andy Gray sacked by Sky over sexism row
shackbleep replied to Monroe Transfer's topic in Newcastle Forum
Aye but most of the other incidents don't end up visible to thousands, if not millions of clients. FWIW I think it is a bit of a stitch up in that the incidents alone didn't warrant the sack. Can't help but think they've wanted rid of him for a while and this was just the vehicle for it. Someone made the point that he thought he was Sky Sports and I think that's true. Probably thought he was bullet-proof in terms of what he could do/say. Must reduce their wage bill considerably too -
Best one yet Berb...

Surely?

Well there's a shock!

She's not going to come out in full make-up, girly hair, a little summer dress and heels now is she Tom? Be fair. Aye can you imagine it? 22 blokes on heat and that's not including the other officials. Which begs the question..... did Wolves have to provide an additional changing room? -
Aye you're right about that one - the farce that was the Lea Valley sports complex. Remember it well.

Is that just before you get to Park Lane, and on your right there's a pub called the Park Lane. Changed since I worked there like. Bookies right beside there I stuck my biggest bet ever on, and still is to this day, on France to win the 2002 WC. It is, aye. There's a pub called Gatsbys that is right next to a fishmongers so when you go up to the toilets, it always stinks of fish. A fishmonger that smells of fish. The scruffy fuckers What a monumental tit you are.

I'm no good with Photoshop but reckon one of you could easily make him into Freddie Kreuger. The trilby and hands are already there

Back to the relegation point, I think people are coming at the argument from two different angles. Thinking we'll be relegated is somewhat different to thinking we're safe from it. I don't think we will be relegated for various reasons but then the moment you're complacent enough to believe you're safe is the same moment you're just as likely to get dragged into it. Every year following the Xmas period, almost without fail, one team seems to freefall from relative safety straight into the relegation mire. This year it's more likely than even given how tight the league is.

Wrong thread?

Never said it did but safe from relegation? If this was the Mackems in our position and coming out with stuff like that we'd be rightly calling them deluded and arrogant.
