  1. I get random texts every other week saying 'Alreet, I'm so and so's mate and he says you play in goal.' My Mrs says I should start charging for whoring myself out. Haha its cause your a rare breed, no-one else wants to stand still for a full match and have people constantly blasting the ball at their nads from 5 yards lol! I've got legs like a heroin addict mate. I once broke my finger a minute into a game and played the rest just thinking I'd bruised it (clean sheet as well). Took my glove off at the end and it was pointing the wrong way, still doesn't bend properly. Also played with concussion after being hit in the head at point blank range which in turn jerked my head back onto the post. Ouch! Yeah i used to be a keeper when I was a kid, many a time I was kicked in the mouth diving at people's feet, lots of split lips and black eyes, also broke my finger and played on but wasn't as bad as yours by the sounds of things lol! That concussion one sounds bad! I did the same but on a wooden 5-a-side floor... someone spun and volleyed the ball full pelt in my face from point blank range, if the impact of the ball wasnt enough to knock me out, smashing my head off the floor certainly was! It was a fucking class save tho It took me till the age of about 13 before I realised there was no glory in playing in goal... so I started playing out instead and switched to being a striker. I'm all about the glory these days, unfortunately at 30 my body isn't so keen on football these days so i've had to switch to a more withdrawn midfield role

  3. Yeah defo... my biggest gripe about leagues is knackers who take it far too seriously and just kick you off the park all match, you get them where ever you go, but there's certainly more than a fair share at certain venues. Eldon sounds like a decent suggestion then so i'll bare it in mind
  4. Yeah i've played there before, good facilities but a little pricy tbh. Played a tournament there summer before last, got knocked out like true english men in the semi's on penalties
  5. I had an outstanding collection of used tissues as a kid, my mam used to empty the bin every week, but low and behold come 7 days later i'd built up that collection all over again!
  6. The souls of children Oh no actually it was something called battle beasts dunno if anyone else remembers those.
  7. I considered Eldon but i'm presuming there's no where to park for free? Thats a consideration I haeve to make as everyone needs to travel to get to the matches. Haha you're bang on about the Shields one!!! We've even had one of the refs stood texting on his phone whilst the match is going on instead of watching what was happenng. There's a couple of decent ones in all fairness but most are fuckin useless! So you're a keeper? Are u looking for a team as its the one position I'm struggling to find. Was he scruffy with long hair??? Surfer dude we call him. We had so many issues with him. He's on record as saying he hates me, and the feelings mutual, if it's the same one because I tell him straight what a mug he is. There's loads of places to park free in town mate, try the cathedral car park opposite the central, only 5 mins walk from there. Haha aye thats the dude!!! We ended up putting a complaint in against him as he was just so shit lol! He's been alright since then in all fairness but still seems to switch off at points during the game which is canny annoying! Ahh ok i'll look in to the parking for eldon, is it indoors on wooden floors still? Not played there in many a year.
  8. Nah tbh it'd be too much hassle. The reason i'm looking for a league is that I organise 5-a-side at Newcastle College on a Thursday night, but i've been really struggling to find 10 people recently to play, so i'm thinking it'll be easier just to enter a team in a league and have less hassle.

  10. The Pitz used to be mint, but we chucked it about 4 years ago cos the pitches were fucked up. Apparently it's better now though and there's a 7 a side league there. It's just beside Dunston flats, easy to get to for you. Eldon Rec is cheap too but the games are only 10 mins each way, really, really intense though. I'll turn out for you if you're short we've jacked it till late January so am gaggin for a game. Cheers mate, yeah i've considered the Pitz, dont think its overly cheap though and i'm not keen on spending another £6 to play footy... am I right in thinking its about £35 a game? Probs wont have the team up and running till end of Jan tbh but gimme a shout nearer the time if you're still looking for a game.
  11. Thinking of entering a team in a 5 or 6 a side league. Would prefer to avoid the usual suspects of powerleague etc as I already play up at North Shields on a Tuesday night and at £6 a game I would prefer to find something a little cheaper for my own teams games. I live in Ryton but can travel so if anyone knows of any leagues please can you let me know? Am happy with any surface and any venue.
  12. West Brom thumped my team Everton last week so I wouldnt get too disheartened after this result tbh. They are a very useful team and if they catch you on a bad day are capable of giving you a good going over. Dont pin yer hopes on gosling helping you once he's back though, he wasn't all that great to start with, but after a serious injury you'll not see anything decent from him this season. I agree with what someone else said, your a Carroll injury away from being fucked, but if he stays fit and Barfa comes back fit you'll be ok.
  13. I think there has to be a correct balance. If it means you're going to struggle to get home and either be stuck in your car, or have to pay to stay in a hotel then I think you should be allowed to take the day off or go home before it gets bad. I dont think you should be expected to get to work no matter what the consequences, but should be allowed to take a days holiday if you're not going to make it in. Some people really do take the piss tho!
  14. Not sure my work would agree with you unfortunately
  15. You're standing under a sloped roof man
  16. Its bucketing down in the TOON just now btw people... really coming down, big chunks as well!
  17. Where do you live? Sunny in the Toon at the mo The West Kootenays in BC...home mountain is Red Mtn, best tree skiing in BC...steep and deep.... Ahh ok... probs not a good indication of whether i'll get a day off work due to the snow in Newcastle then

  19. haha I never thought you were yeah its been pretty bad but I like the snow so i'm quite happy. i just wish it would snow enough for my work to close so i could go out and take lots more pictures
  20. Let me know if you need the number of a plumber... mine packed in last week and the guy i got out was very good and didn't charge much at all... used him once before and he was good then too so i know he's sound Bad crack about the tonsillitis... used to get it all the time until they ripped em out so I feel yer pain!
  21. Thanks! Well tbh I could never claim my photo's to be unedited as I always tweak them in photoshop, but I haven't done anything specifically to the light in the windows, that was just the sun coming down and being in a nice position for the photo. Would have loved to have stayed around for another half an hour as the sun was properly setting, but as it was quite bad weather and it started blizzarding just after that photo, so I headed the wifes advice and packed up and left... was probs for the best in hindsight.
  22. Roads were pretty clear this afternoon tbh but this morning was an absolute nightmare... best bet would be to either set off stupidly early or after rush hour tbh. Checked weather and it looks fine tbh until mid day but then lots of snow again so maybe getting in early would be better
  23. Cheers JawD! Thanks again for the recommendation of Finchale Priory its a really lovely place. Here's the landscape pics:
  24. All go ahead buses going off at 7pm according to the bus driver down my street.
