  1. Aye between £100 & £125 depending on how early you book it. I think Durham Tees might be flying someone like Jet 2 to there but probs wouldn't save you much money when you take in to account parking etc
  2. Me neither... my mate suggested it... I was less than enthusiastic, especially as its only 1 hour on a plane!! His explanation was that you could get pissed and have a laugh on the boat... my response was that I could do that in Amsterdam during the 30 hours I saved during the trip!
  3. You can get a stamp from a shop... not sure where you can get a postbox from, but there are usually lots of public ones scattered about the place that you can use.
  4. Dont risk it for a biscuit... its illegal, they have sniffer dogs and are just waiting for a mong like you to step of the boat so they can finger you in the arse
  5. The answer is in his screen name? Haha I hadn't notice that!
  6. Dont know about the ferry tbh but go to holland once or twice a year on the plane... never been searched once in 4 years. There's never even anyone on customs at Newcastle Airport. Having said that i'd still not take the chance... and that would be for my own consumption... Smuggle stuff back for your mates? Are you fuckin stupid? Let them daft twats take the risk if they want something... I personally wouldn't want to be caught with my own stash, let alone stuff for several people!
  7. No i've never heard of it but i'll have a look in to it... always good to learn a new trick or 2
  8. Nice pics... did u use a slow shutter speed?
  9. Top one's good, but the 2nd one's excellent I think
  10. I think thats the danger with street photography, i've been ok so far other than some funny looks but its just takes someone falsly on disability benefits to see you taking their pic and its game over lol!
  11. Or in other words you're a tight arse, a loose arse and a rapist but you've got great hair. Haha pretty much got it in one!
  12. 1) Am going for a swim and a sauna tonight with voucher number 8 from the British Gas deal. Its only supposed to be 3 per household i'm abusing it by using relatives houses to register (although not telling them about it) 2) I saw a lass walk past at the college where I work today, she was wearing stockings and a skirt so short you could almost see her fanny. It made me think rape should be legalised 3) I've had 2 shits today already 4) I'm taking the missus out for a meal 2moro nite to celebrate 5 years togther... i'm using a groupon voucher lol 5)I dont like the wind as it messes up my hair
  13. Tell me about it lol! Nah its probs a bit too far for me to go tbh but thanks for the offer.
  14. Has anyone here been to a good chiropractor? If so please could u recommend them to me as need to see one for my fucked back
  15. I feel sorry for Crouch... he's a good player and if he wasnt so bucked teeth and gangly people would rate him a lot higher. Very few strikers at international level with a scoring record better than one it 2 would receive such flack. Yeah he's a bit one dimentional but he's still a very good player.
  16. Yes its one of my favourite albums of all time. Shame that slag Courtney Love had Kurt killed!
  17. Sorry but its crap like In all fairness I think you're being a little bit harsh! He's even said himself he's not particularly experienced with photography, and its not like many people can pick up a camera and just start taking outstanding photo's. Despite it being a fluke he's realised that sometimes changing the perspective or just making a photo a bit different can improve it no end... so my advice Shack would be to stick at it, do some research if you are interested in getting in to photography (I presume you are seeing as you're posting in here) and go out and keep taking photo's. Its a learning curve and only by practicing will you improve. Dont let the lack of good equipment put you off either... I 've taken plenty of really good pics with a point & click before.
  18. Strong statement that when even Wenger admits he was wrong about how much progres he would make in the last 12 months. If he continues to progress at the rate he has for the last 12 months (not sure how you would be up on that as a toffee) for the next 2 years, he will be a phenomenal player. He was poor for the first 3 months of last season and then started to get it together, improving rapidly towards the end of the season. He has continued that progress this season. Statements casting doubt on his progress are therefore a load of codswallop. Sorry what I meant was that he wont continue to develop... there are plenty of players who develop to a certain level and then stop due to their mentality not being what it should be.... hence the comment about Scholes etc still learning the game and improving well on in their careers. He has obviously developed from last year else he'd not have the goals or some of the performances he as done this season... my point was that will he continue to develop at the rate he has been, or just stop, as he will believe he has already made it? Its a good question and one which i'm sure everyone of us lot would love to be answered with a resounding yes. It does seem that his recent troubles have not in any way affected his form with goals coming literally the same day as appearing in on the front pages and superb performances following court appearances, a frequent occurence this term. John Terry was probably worse than Carroll at his age and he continued to progress to the highest level, as Meenz says, there is very little evidence to suggest that these things affect a players development. Its a natural fear for most coaches and fans as focus and dedication are the secret to improved performance. Personally i buy into none of the shit written about Rooney, Barton, Carroll or any of the rest of them. The gap between public perception and the reality of people's lives can not be transcended through the media. Its all a fiction that follows the same 'titillation narrative' which deliberately or not, stupefies the masses. Dont be part of the problem andy Yeah focus and dedication are very much key to reaching your potential... also professionalism plays a large part too... I agree the media love to make people infamous regardless of the real truth behind the stories, and that the public lap it up... however i'd feel a lot more comfortable if it were one of my team's players if they weren't as well known for their off field antics as much as their on field ones. As for Rooney... smoking, shagging prozzies etc etc, it doesnt exactly scream professional athlete... he's also not gone on to fulfill the vast potential he showed as a kid, and i'm not convinced thats just a coincidence. Dont even get me started on Barton lol! Although i'm glad it looks like he's turned himself around!
  19. Yeah this is what leads to the rest of the problems with a lot of players... it also massively impares your performance as an athlete especially if abused over several years. I'm not saying all footballers should be saints, or that indeed many are... however i'm sure the likes of usain Bolt aren't pissed half of the time. Even Michael Phelps enjoys the odd toke Haha isn't there an urban myth that it increases your lung capacity? He was just training thats all
  20. Carroll made his debut in the UEFA cup when he was 17 and has since progressed massively. Jack Wilshere was arrested the other month, no smoke without fire... Alan Shearer would swing the odd punch... How many of the players you've highlighted were in trouble for a sucssion of these in a short space of time though? I'd compare Carroll to Barton when he first started going off the rails rather than Shearer tbf

  22. Haha erm yeah I guess I missed those stories... Jose Baxter who broke all sorts of scoring records at youth level is another kettle of fish though... fell in with the wrong crowd, likes a drink and was in a car that got pulled over where the driver had fake cash and lots of weed on him. Strangely enough his progress has stalled over the last 2 years and he's fallen way down the pecking order after being seen as the next one who'd come through the ranks prior to that.
  23. I think the crucial difference is the "path of self destruction" interpretation - I'd only be willing to call it that if I believed half of the stories about him were more than just obvious tabloid/local press bollocks aimed at selling a few shitrags. If the same stories are cropping up in five years' time then that might be a different matter, but right now he's an easy target who's getting a bit of bad press and putting in some relegation-busting performances. I can deal with that for now. Fair enough... I know what the press are like, but equally there's no smoke without fire... they might blow stuff up out of proportion, but there's a reason why its him and not another player getting a lot of attention at the moment.
  24. Haha cheers Alex, and no i'm not on a wind up... I just think Carroll is heading down the wrong path at a very rapid rate. I also think its a big shame as he's clearly talented and we're a national team short of proper strikers. Not sure he's that bad but I share your concerns. I'd quite like to see him left out the England squad too. Mainly for selfish reasons. Aye I know where you're coming from there... international duty is just extra strain on the players... we've had a few crocked that way so sometimes its better for them not to get the call. We've got a young lad called Ross Barkley who's being talked about in the Rooney/Rodwell bracket, went away on international duty recently and came back with a double leg fracture... sometimes young players are better off not playing I think! As well, I think at times last season he got a bit Billy Big Bollocks and stopped grafting so much. He's not half the player when he plays like that. He's actually got pace and athleticism that someone like Crouch could only dream of (not dissing Crouch who is a canny player btw, but different). Sometimes he strolls about though and doesn't use it. Not lately mind. I think thats the thing with carroll, he's got a lot of tools at his disposal when he cares to use them... Crouch on the other hand is an effective player but isn't very diverse in the tools he has.
  25. Maradona is a one off and you can't compare Carroll to him tbf. Yes, that's exactly what I was doing. Care to debate the rest of that post then? Or are you just gonna make smart arse comments? Only carrying on what you started tbh. How can any of us know what any player would become without their upbringing or the way they behave as young adults, least of all those with immensely difficult backgrounds like a Maradona or a Garrincha? If they didn't have that dark side to their personalities then they might have faded into mediocrity as adults, never been driven towards sport in the first place, not achieved a fraction of what they did on the field of play. Or they might have done exactly that anyway. Nobody knows, least of all the likes of us, though I suppose this thread shows we've both made up our minds to one extent or another. It just seems incredibly churlish to puncture the balloon of a young lad whose career is on a positive trajectory by damning him before he's even had the chance to properly damn himself. Aye some good points you raise there tbh... although not sure Carroll's upbringing would be quite as harsh as Maradona growing up on the mean streets of Argentina lol Dont you worry as a Toon fan though that your brightest prospect seems to be heading on a path of self destruction (if you ignore his current form on the pitch)?
