  1. Haha its fine... just remember that "time" doesnt even exist. There is no such thing as "time"
  2. Is it possible to view something x number of light years away if you are travelling at the speed of light? Wouldn't the sheer speed which you were travelling distort any image so much that it would be impossible to see anything? Also if you travelled faster than the speed of light you'd be able to turn around and watch yourself arrive (I think thats right)... trippy or what! You'd also age much slower over 10 years than you would have if you'd stayed on your own planet

  4. I see what you're say I think... If you were to travel at the speed of light it would still take you 10 years to arrive at the monument... so if you set off in 2010, you'd arrive in 2020. However as time passes on earth it also passes in your own reality too... so as you travel time will travel with you. So once 9 years away not only will you be a year closer, you'll also be a year further away from your point of departure... therefore you will "maintain" the original arrival date of 2020. Travelling at the speed of light over a period of light years will always allow you to maintain that original arrival date of x number of light years. However the real "interesting" thought would be... what if you could travel faster than the speed of light... maybe even bend time and space to the point where you could travel those 10 light years instantly. How could you plan a journey of that length when using even the most amazingly powerful telescope may take a snapshot of this destination of 10 years prior (considering it possible to view distances at the speed of light). Potentially you could warp there and the planet has disappeared, or you're now on the edge of a black hole caused by a collapsed star. I wonder if scientists have ever considered this when looking in to the theory of bending space and time?
  5. Would it not be polite for you to post a pic seeing as u started this thread?
  6. Cool yeah I dont think it quite meets the 3rds rule properly but like you say its more or less fine. Might give it a tiny trim sometime but for now i'll leave it as it is.
  7. Cheers mate. Yeah maybe I should have moved that bowl in hindsight... I think sometimes i'm maybe too keent o get in there snapping and forget a few basics. Its all a learning curve though and I appreciate that feedback as hadn't thought about the bowl until now. Quick question about the swan pic... is the composition slightly off? I'm thinking maybe the swan needed to be a touch further to the left? Not much but maybe just a bit?
  8. I think to cover all bases lets just say its not safe to trust women at all.
  9. Very nice, that. You know I like reflections though Got a bigger version? Thanks, thats high praise from a reflections aficionado like yourself Just copied thses from my Flickr account... any ideas how I can post them in a larger size?

    Wankers

man thats ridiculous!!!! I'm with British Gas too... I presumed I could just leave at any point after a year as would have a rolling contract?! So how do I know when my contract "expires" again if I want to leave?
  11. Was in Holland over new year and did a mini shoot with my Sister in Law and her boyfriend... unfortunately she took so long getting ready that she missed all but the last 5 minutes of the shoot lol, but I still got one decent pic of her. I used an old Gipsy caravan in the garden for the backdrop... Here's the best pics from the shoot: Just a quick note on the above one for JawD... this is the pic I mentioned to you in another thread where I experimented with a high ISO to get a more grainy feel to the pic. I think it works well in this context but would be interested in your thoughts Also one pic I took in Amsterdam... didnt get much time in the city unfortuantely but came across some swans on a frozen canal and thought this would be a good pic: Feedback as always will be appreciated.
  12. No problem... tbh I have been reading A LOT about photography and composition recently and I think thats what's helped me get a better understanding of photography. I have a pic I took of a beach, sea and sky as my backdrop on my laptop at home... always thought it was a nice pic but never understood why until a few weeks back... then after reading something on the web I thought "ahhh thats why it works!" Total fluke at the time but i'd got the composition bang on. I would recommend this website for you to read up on photography techniques: http://www.digital-photography-school.com/ I've used this a lot and its a great website. There's a lot of stuff on here so you need to look through to find what you want... but its got some excellent tips!!! This is a great starting point... you might know some or quite a lot of the areas already but there's lots of great stuff on there. http://www.digital-photography-school.com/...ers-should-know I know you're taking pics of pets, but i'd class this a portrait photography, so have a look at tips for that style of photography and that will help improve your technical abilities too. Like I said you're almost there and I look forward to seeing more of your images in the future Thanks for the web links and stuff. I'm off to the beach on sunday for a Basset Hound walk, so i should get a few decent pictures then. Nice one, the beach is a great place for dogs as they love it! I like the fact you're capturing "moments" in your pictures btw... thats a really good thing you either understand or just do naturally... either way its a good skill to have!

  14. Sorry if thats a bit overly critical... I think you have an eye for a good pic, and with a few small tweaks you could be getting great pics. The things i've mentioned work for people too so they are good things to use. Like I said the things you need to look at are: Backgrounds... make sure they dont distract Get down to eye level I hope the comments are helpful and not overly critical... I apologise if they are as like I said you've got a good eye for a pic but your technical composition sometimes lets the pic down a wee bit.
  15. Just a quick pointer regaring the pics of the dog and child... its always best to get down to their level... i.e. camera at eye level... can't help being put off a little by the fact you're looking down slightly on a lot of them. If you get down to their eye level it brings you in to their world almost like looking through the eyes of another child or dog, rather than an adult towering over them. i.e: If i hadnt been lying down on the carpet and was just stood over the child it would have removed a lot of the intamacy in the photo
  16. Cool shot... I like the detail on the leaf.
  17. Its an interesting shot... not 100% sure what to make of it, looks like a cool topman advertisement or something. What did you do post production?
  18. I reckon it could be a bad idea. Mind you, i'm no medicine man. I'm thinking the same tbh but might just give it a go and see what happens... worst case scenario is I pass out and leave chunks of pyhlem all over the pitch lol!
  19. I've defo got flu or something at the moment.... fucking ache from head to toe!!! Also got a sore chest and a really hacky cough that burns like fuck! Supposed to be playing footy 2nite... is that a good idea or bad when its spread to my chest?
  20. All the pics are as usual at a very high standard Dr Ken. I especially like this one as the sheep is looking directly at the camera which gives it a great focal point.
  21. Really nice photo! Not sure but I honestly think with a few tweaks in photoshop you could make this image even better. A bit of increased vibrance and maybe playing with the curves tool would accentuate the colour of the sky and the reflection of the boats in the water. But like I said really great photo even without all that tom foolery!
