http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle3885412.ece So who is lying?

If he walks away with anymore than 20 mil the fans are going to hate him even more, not that he'll be bothered like. I'm not too bothered if he walks away with a profit, I will be bothered if he scuppers any potential deal because of a ridiculous asking price.

Aren't Arabian Business the guys who broke the Man City story? May be fairly reliable.

Offer - Acceptance - Consideration. That's about all you need to know. Really it's not too bad, one of the easier law topics to learn.

Why? Winter is generally decent and seems to have a soft spot for us. -

There's a lot of truth in what he says, for how long now has it been said that football was being taken away from the fans? What our fans have done is to effect change at the very highest level. At the same time it could be said that Ashley didn't exactly put up much of a fight. -

You can always rely on Henry Winter to bring a bit of sense to the situation. -
Exactly. Who here was unhappy with the situation before the Milner sale? Aye, that was because despite all the media reports we believed that the system was working when clearly it wasn't, had we known what was going on behind the scenes then I doubt whether too many of us would have been happy.

Your tax code should be 543L, provided that you're only entitled to the basic personal allowance with no additions or deductions.

Aye, HBOS shares I think, he was spreadbetting, very high risk stuff as he found out to his detriment.

Filthy cockney pervert, where's this ewerk? However, Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan believes Ashley will struggle to find a buyer. Sullivan told BBC Five Live: "I don't think he will find a buyer - partly because he spent too much. "Secondly people won't want to go into that environment because they know if things don't work out after six months they will get abuse.'' http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...mp;&cc=5739

I see the filthy smut merchant David Sullivan has also been having a go at us.

4 games played, 1 point on the board, bottom of the league. Can you imagine the press stories if that were us?

The worst article there's been on Newcastle yet?

Tbf it was written by this guy: I don't think it was meant to be taken too seriously. -
If we take this year in isolation I think the club has to be running at a profit. I'd be very surprised if you get all the TV money upfront when the deal is done either. It'll be year on year I'd imagine. And the TV money will (I guess) dwarf the (already spent) Northern Rock money. Unless they've taken out loans based on the promise of future income from TV. Either way, if Ashley has paid off most of the debt as he claims then the TV money, commercial revenue and ST money (especially given those paying for 3 seasons) should have had us running at a profit.

Since he took it into private ownership (not sure of the structure) he will be liable for debts. There are very strong rules in the U.K. reg best practice and director responsabilities. I'm assuming that the club is still a limited company and if so then he wouldn't be liable for debts unless he has personally guaranteed them. But given the amounts he has already invested in buying the club and supposedly paying the debts off then it wouldn't make any sense to run the club into the ground. This is a myth about Ltd's if it can be proven you've mishandled your priveledges/responsibilities as a director you and your assets are still liable. It is not a myth, the veil of incorporation will only be pierced in exceptional circumstances e.g. carrying on business knowing that you've no chance of avoiding liquidation, even then it is very hard to prove. You have to be pretty fucking stupid to be caught out by it.

With Honours. Someone else can post the next screen cap as I'm at work.

Which is why I doubt they'd spent huge money here if they did take over, if they had a virtually unlimited pot of cash then they would have offered Hicks and Gillett enough to buy their stakes but they seem to be haggling over price which leads me to believe that we wouldn't have the same sort of spending power as the likes of Chelsea and City.
-
Anyone know much about DIC? I'm not sure whether their intentions would be to pump a fuckload of cash into the club, though any sort of injection would be an improvement I suppose.
-
That's a fair point, but when you've got the Abu Dhabi Group with their billions swooping in on City, they don't really need to do due diligence. If Gates had taken us over instead of Ashley he could have wiped off debts and spent as much as he'd like on players, because by the next transfer window he'll have recouped the loss in interest alone. If Ashley was trying to run this club within his means, he should have looked closer at it before he bought it then.. but I still think his departure won't hail a glorious future. The point I was making was that the press coverage of the club should be immaterial to anyone looking to invest, as if they talk to the right people then they'll get the right message about the club. If they're rich enough that they don't need to do due diligence and just want a club to fling some money at then the point still stands, blazer and tie boy! You're right in that, the only thing this press coverage is going to do is strengthen their bargaining position. The product hasn't changed, but the owners position clearly has. Trouble is, we're making the change now, when nothing can be done to the playing staff and it's unlikely we'll see Keegan reinstated and Wise leaving. And if I'm honest I don't want the scouting system (Vetere, Jiminez) to go, it's a vast improvement on past regimes. I bet you 40 Rupees that Wise, at some point, has offered to go but Vetere and Jiminez has said that if he goes, they go too. Ashley has baulked at that as that is the foundation of his business model. So, the choice was Ashley's business model or Keegan, and we know what won. Of course, there's no proof of the above. I'll take your 40 rupees, you reckon that Wise would have even offered to leave that cushy little number? No chance.
-
He wants a top-class manager yet he has to be local, well that limits the choice to absolutely no one.
-
He does neglect to address the fact that we have had a net spend of fuck all under Keegan.
-
Rubbish, Keegan has gone on record as saying that he was very happy with a few of the players that Wise has brought in, I'd guess that Keegan may have been more pissed off that we weren't getting enough of them in.
-
Fuck off Fish. The fans are the only people in all this who are blameless. The hell they are. Objectively, we do this time and time again, we demand success our way. We hound out managers when they don't deliver in a season, we've hounded out a bloke who's come in with a genuine "plan" to get the club challenging. Basing our club on Arsenal is not a bad idea at all, they've challenged for major honours on a (comparatively) small budget, they've played some cracking football while they're at it. the only thing I'll blame Ashley for is the hiring of the wrong people for the job. And Jonny, hypothetically, if it was anyone but Keegan I'm willing to put every penny in my pocket against every penny in yours we'd have taken a different view. Which is a pretty big fuck up to be fair, not only has he picked the wrong people but he has also refused to admit that mistake and get rid of them. All he had to do was give Wise the boot or even just re-define his role but instead he has dug his heels in and now cut his nose off to spite his face by selling the club.
