Sam Allardyce has admitted Newcastle will sit down with Michael Owen in the summer to discuss his long-term future at the club. There has been speculation that the England striker's career lies away from St James' Park, with reports of a clause in his contract allowing him to move for £6million. The existence of such a clause has been ruled out by the club, and Allardyce's first focus is keeping the injury-hit Owen fit and scoring goals for the Magpies. The former Liverpool striker has made just 17 league starts for Newcastle since his club-record £16million move from Real Madrid in August 2005. A metatarsal injury ruled Owen out for the much of his first season, and his second was wrecked by the cruciate ligament damage sustained on England duty in the 2006 World Cup. Situation Allardyce told The Daily Mail: "There is no clause in Michael Owen's contract. There's no way Michael can leave unless we want him to. "Saying that, if Michael was as determined as some players are when they decide they want to go, that would be a different story. "But at the moment, we're hoping Michael stays fit and plays continuously for Newcastle from now until the end of the season. "If he does that, we can have a good look at the situation then." Eriksson Owen has already admitted his determination to win over the doubters in the Toon Army by bringing silverware to the club and insists he is not looking to move on. Former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson has hinted he could be interested in bringing the prolific scorer to Manchester City. But Allardyce had a blunt warning for his Premier League rival, despite the financial backing Eriksson enjoys under new City owner Thaksin Shinawatra. He stated: "You probably can't afford him."

I did a while back, used to grow my own chilli's, used to stick them in with a tin of Stagg chilli but I had to give it up as I began to produce farts that even I found to be distasteful.

Newcastle United's Brazilian defender Claudio Cacapa was delighted to score his first goal for the club in the 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Monday but he was rather less enamoured of his goalkeeper Shay Given's linguistic skills. Given has been learning Spanish in an effort to improve his communication with a new defence which also includes the former Villarreal full-back José Enrique. But the Irishman only managed to confuse Cacapa, who scored with a second-half header against Spurs, when he tried to put the lessons into practice. "A few of the new lads don't speak much English so I've been trying to learn Spanish to help communicate with them," Given said. "Unfortunately I tried to speak to Cacapa in Spanish as I'd forgotten they speak Portuguese in Brazil. He just gave me a blank look; I don't think he was very impressed. It wasn't my finest moment." Given, though, has been impressed by Cacapa's impact at St James' Park since the 31-year-old, who has been capped by Brazil, arrived on a free from the French champions, Lyon, last summer. "The good thing is we've got players like Cacapa, who has been successful in France for five years, and he's come in and done extremely well," he said. "He reads the game so well and that doesn't mean he has to be fluent in English. He is a calming influence at the back and you can see why he won so many titles with Lyon." Newcastle's goalkeeper also believes the team's encouraging start to the season has changed opinions on Tyneside of the manager, Sam Allardyce, who was appointed in May after leaving Bolton Wanderers. Newcastle are eighth in the Premier League, two points off fourth place, and have enjoyed their best start to a campaign since Kevin Keegan's "Entertainers" in 1996. Last season the club finished 13th. "A few things have been said about Sam Allardyce's teams not playing attractive, attacking football but we've scored three goals in each of our last three home games; that's as good as anything the so-called Entertainers teams could have done," said Given. "We're scoring a lot of goals, especially at home, and that's very important for the fans. I think they are enjoying how things are going and so are we." Would very rarely buy football magazines as a kid, but started to buy "90 Minutes" back in the early 90's, then when that finished I went on to FourFourTwo, but I find that dull as fuck now, so I've moved on to World Soccer, that is the absolute daddy of football magazines.

If we should be cashing in it should be on that injury-prone scouse parasite.
