Nike to buy Umbro in £285m deal Umbro, the maker of the England football team's kit, has agreed to be bought by US sportswear giant Nike in a deal worth £285m ($580m). Nike said the deal would allow it to "significantly expand" its presence in "a key growth category" for the firm. As well as providing kit for the England team, Umbro also supplies the kit for six Premier League clubs. The Football Association said Nike had assured it that the FA's relationship with Umbro would be protected. Manchester-based Umbro said last month that sales of England tops had been "disappointing", and analysts are concerned that sales could suffer if England fail to qualify for next year's European Championship. Defensive moves Speculation had been rising that Nike was set to launch a bid after Umbro said last week that it had received an approach about a possible offer. 'World class brand' Nike began moving into football in the early 1990s and has been steadily expanding its share of the market, catching up with German rival Adidas. "From a marketability point of view, the Nike brand is very appealing to top clubs and international federations," he added. The band released a free 14-minute demo from a London studio recording session, via music magazine NME's website. The group reunited in June after an eight-year split which saw singer Richard Ashcroft begin a solo career. He said: "We all decided that rather than meeting for a cup of coffee or a beer, we should meet in a studio where we can do what we do. Straight away." The demo was the first recording from the first studio session for a new Verve album. Ashcroft and fellow bandmates Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury embark on a UK tour next month. Formed in 1993, The Verve achieved their greatest success with the 1997 album Urban Hymns. At the peak of their fame, Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher described them as "one of the most important bands in history".

My game has gone from bad to worse, I think the AI in the game has sussed out my tactics, went through a real shite spell, found myself 11th and the board started making noises about sacking me, then the Chelsea job became avaliable so I applied and Ashley sacked me, didn't get the Chelsea job and bummed around for another appointment. Eventually I got the Wolves job, they were in the relegation zone in the Championship, I got them up to 17th but that wasn't good enough and was sacked, in the mean time with 3 matches left to play Newcastle were in the relegation zone, I was hoping they would go down so I could add myself as manager and have a season with the Toon in the Championship. However they missed out on relegation on the last day of the season with a draw at Arsenal, but I added myself again anyway, the club has hardly any money left and is generally in shite state, I think I've got a job on my hands just to keep us up.
