Was thinking earlier mind - for all the club has been a bit of a shambles on transfers this summer, they've not really put a foot wrong on this. Assuming that they didn't know this was coming (big assumption maybe but I agree that the evidence points to this being an impulse from Isak rather than a planned move) then they've remained steadfast throughout, kept the drama to a minimum from our end, and left Liverpool in no doubt that all the fucking on behind the scenes with media and the player himself isn't going to change that position. For all the claims to the contrary from the scousers, we have in fact handled this like a "big club". We haven't collapsed, we don't have an urgent and desperate need to get this over the line, we've told Liverpool to jog on and we're fining the player for being a twat. Hard to argue with any of that really.

I think we have to view this as a window of consolidation rather than one where we meaningfully kick on. We are getting depth this time out, but we won't be challenging for the title or anything. I suppose we might come to see this as the foundation upon which the progress is built.

Well, if it helps at all, we have City fans on here and they don't get grief - in fact because they're always pretty balanced and respectful everyone seems to get along with them pretty well. Generally speaking we only go after the people who are here for a reaction - and you aren't. Tbh with you I think you could even get away with being a mackem on here if you were up front about it and didn't aim to wind people up. Not sure we've ever had one in that mould, mind.
