It's the post quality man. It's awful - witness the track or field thread for God's sake! We need a decent vile turd thread or something.

It wasn't built in a day and all roads lead there. Apparently. 182706 When you're there its important to remember to do as the Romans do is what I heard. 182722 What have they ever done for us like? 182739 Well there's education. And the aquaducts.

I watched the first 3 but then lost interest tbh.

Being John Malkovitch is on Film 4 tonight - an absolute must if you haven't seen it and superbly surreal. The restaurant scene is one of my favourites. It doesn't start til the early hours so is probably a video job.

I heard about you trying to get Renton to take photos of us all btw! I caught him taking one of me on his mobile, although that may have been for self-pleasure purposes. Doesn't even register on the Renton scale btw. Oh, and Elf is CLASS. 181865 I am officially a shit secret agent.

I knew this would happen. Bastids.

Howay, it's common sense. And Spongebob is clearly a grungy biker.

25% nice bullshit statistc. There are some idiots who drive bikes, there a lot fucking more who drive cars lets ban all of them aswell. 181791 You think the risk of death, or causing death, in a car is the same as on a bike? Would the figure of a 25% lifetime risk really surprise you? Considering I have known 3 people independently killed on bikes and none in a car it wouldn't surprise me. Btw, I should add that wasn't being entirely serious about banning all motorbikes but it'd be nice to ban some of the idiots you see on country roads. 181798 I think the risk of causing death in a car is shitload higher than with a bike. The figure of 25% is plainly ridiculous, you might just know a load of idiots. 181807 The relative risk of being killed on a bike is far, far higher than in a car though - about 20 times higher according to a quick Google I've done. The fact that less people die on bikes is purely down to the fact that much less people drive them. None of the people I knew were idiots btw but died because cars failed to see them. An easy mistake to make unfortunately and one that is worsened by the fact that many bikers simply drive too fast.

Seems a bit of a one-sided scoreline to be the greatest game of all time, shirley? Watch Raging Bull again Gemmill, one of my favourite films if not my most favourite.

Horrific story, hope it doesn't affect you too badly Craig. Everyone seems to know a friend or relative who has been killed or maimed on a motorbike - I read somewhere that if you ride a bike all your life you have about 25% of being killed on it - pretty suicidal odds for such an avoidable risk. Of course, it tends to get you when you're young and reckless too. I'd ban them personally, as they're a threat to all users. Driving back from the lakes via Alston is a scarey experience when you have some idiot overtaking you at 80 mph on a blind bend.

bump I think you can get these without a prescription now - you still have to sign some form tho'......................... Migraleve and Imagren are the things - butthey can leave you "flat" as the good Dr says 180513 Migraleve has been available over the counter for years now - it's basically just paracetamol, codeine and an anti-sickness drug (anti-emetic). Imigram is sumatriptan and I believe in the past month or so it has become available without prescription - very effective for acute attacks. However, amitriptyline is not and never will be available without a prescription. As has been said it's an antidepressant but the evidence for its effectiveness in migraine is sketchy - you must have been bad for the doctor to put you on it. It's pretty much fatal in overdose too.

Ironic you refer to me as Rantin' after today's performance!

Btw, I'm aware that threads wander off aimlessly all the time, but can we stop polluting this one with Big Brother? It's completely shit, and that is a nailed on FACT! And there's even a custom thread for it!

Aye, I was a bit baffled by Renton's comments there, but thought that was heading more for the serious conversation than the Friday afternoon piss-take. What did you reckon to Bound? 180522 I was using this definition: film noir n. A movie characterized by low-key lighting, a bleak urban setting, and corrupt, cynical characters. I should have perhaps said comic noir though
-
Aye, but HF said barmaids were generally required to show a bit of skin, not that in this warped fantasy universe they were. 180497 They are in the toon like. Btw, I don't generally read comics, but maybe I should.
-
Well, at least your stereotypes weren't adversely affected. 180483 It was film noir DotBum, didn't you get that? 180488 Think about it some more. 180490 Well, my point was, the characters were sterotypes, based on a genre which is based on stereotypes. Which is fine.
-
You're trying to find high-brow justification for your seedy, nerdy fantasies, embrace your inner nerd. 180489 I'm not trying to justify anything, I liked it, end of story. I saw it in the cinema with my wife and she like it too, despite this type of film not usually being her cup of tea. About the acting and characters, yes, they were superb - Willis, O'Rourke etc. You've got to take it in the context of who they were supposed to be though, which is something you seem to be missing. It was a comic book - fair enough if that's not your thing, but that's a bit like me slagging of Eminem because I don't like hip hop, or something.
-

-
I can't believe anyone would dislike a film because it had attractive women in in skimpy outfits. Especially someone who frequents a message board where there is porn posted on a daily basis! Besides, weren't those hoes empowered, the way they took the perv cop out?
-
It was film noir DotBum, not meant to be any more believable than Star Wars. Did you miss that?
-
Go on so, enlighten me as to how it was enjoyable. And take your dick out of your hand when I'm talking to you! 180468 I'm not a film critic like HF so any attempt to articulate why I liked it probably isn't going to be successful. But needless to say I liked it because I found it HUGELY enjoyable. Off the top of my head I would say these things were in its favour: Film noir - one of my favourite genres (don't ask me why because I don't know) Superb graphic effects, the first film to truely bring a comic to life (especially the brutal violence) Great characters accompanied by great acting Brilliant structure that told several interesting, overlapping stories which I genuinely found absorbing and emotional Gorgeous women Infact, there is almost nothing I disliked in the film. Fair enough, you think its puerile, I disagree and anyway, I quite like puerile humour. But to describe it as negatively as you have is frankly ridiculous.
-
It's quite obviously faithful to the graphic novel and is a fucking horrible pubescent wank fest as a result - so yes it could be said to achieve it's aims but anyone who likes it spends too much time alone with their penis. FACTATHON! If that's your benchmark then the puerile drivel on daytime US TV is some of the best entertainment in the world. 180450 Well I thought it was utterly superb and frankly couldn't give a shit what anyone else thinks!
-
I didn't realise you could finish it I thought it was all about messin aboot! 177645 Yeah, I finished it. Impossible without a magazine walkthrough I reckon. Considering there was no save facility it was some feat actually. And what did you get? The line WELL DONE or something similar.
