Giving her credit is the wrong term, but she was a major driver behind the formation of the single market as it became known. As Alex says, she didn't throw the economy under the bus and her beliefs were coherent and evidence based, even if I don't agree with them. And whilst all your points are valid, I don't recall her being a liar in the way Johnson and the wider tory party now are. I keep on saying it, but it is the death of truth that has well and truly fucked this country imo. Its spread like a contagion so even the opposition are infected. At the end of the day, you knew what you got with Thatcher and you could make an informed choice based on that. And people did. And it proved most people are selfish cunts in this country. But the country was functional. Now it is literally falling apart.

Don't think that is true, otherwise they wouldn't have had to move, plus they would have released lots of real estate like Arsenal did. This is a current Google shot, photographed when the new stadium was under construction. You can still see part of the old ground.
-
Could we put STs on hold for a year or so and put up with Kingston Park? Or pay in advance for the development of Gateshead stadium?
-
Spurs developed their new stadium on the existing site by rotating the pitch 90 degrees didn't they. I am sure I have heard a similar thing could be done at SJP. I would be massively against relocation anywhere else in the city personally. Apparently the Arena site is not big enough so it would have to go out of the city centre. FUCK. THAT. Does anyone know what is happening to the plot in front of the Metro station? It has been used recently to store building materials but has been cleared in the last month. I have heard its so building can commence on theat poxy office block which will forever impeded extension of the Gallowgate. I hope not.

Ibrox number one, Tynecastle also in the top 10. A bit Scottish-centric to say the least as none of those grounds is brilliant (although Ibrox does have character). And some random fields on the Souuthern Downs and Wales. It's bollocks. Also the desciption of the ground is wrong anyway. Er no, it doesn't overlook the Wear and nor is there anything remotely spectacular about the Wear at that point in its course. Think they may be getting mixed up with Durham Cathedral.... Yeah, because I am sure the production staff on the Apprentice were inspired to use one of the most famous pieces of classical music of all time by a then Championship club.

I think she would be fucking horrified at what they've become personally.

There's a video on youtube which shows you could provide all the World's energy needs by having a solar farm in the Sahara. It would need to be the size of New Mexico like, and I imagine wiring it up to North America might be difficult, but still. I think for more equatorial countries this would be a better more reliable solution than wind if storage can be sorted out.

I think some of the brickwork on their (West?) stand is quite nice and marks it slightly above the Reynold's arena for aesthetics tbh. But anyway Fish, why not post this on the rlevant thread on the SMB? ... Oh.

Thanks wykiki. Phwoar.

Look at this latest forecast. Results of this modelling suggest Sunak himself would be unseated. As much as I fucking hate the tories, and this owuld be hilarious for the shits and giggles, I am not sure it is good for democracy and as the tory party is now facing a real existential threat, I am scared what they will try next. Because moderation does not seem to be their MO, even under Sunak, all we get is more extremism.

Like the "debate" over which city is better, the mackems need to let this attendance thing go. The mackems DO get very good attendances for a club who's natural position is in the upper reaches of the championship or relagation zone of the premiership. From one of the poorest areas in the country. But it is never going to match NUFC's who have a bigger more affluent catchment area, becoming an increasingly international attaction, and are on a hugely upward trajectory. Like everything else with that lot, theor constant comparisons with us does them no favours and just makes them miserable. So long may it continue.
-
Thing is, despite the claims of how classy they are, and apart from the obviously dire football, honestly, going to the SoL sounds like a fucking nioghtmare. I've been there three times, twice for largely unsuccessful NUFC games (drew, lost iirc) and once when England played Turkey where the place was a racist hell hole. But reading stuff on what happens there on the SMB, and watching STID (including the episode where the camera man was assaulted), you just think why the fuck does anybody want to do this? In contrast nothing like this has ever happened at the hundreds of NUFC matches I have attended home or away (although you do get knackers in the latter). Worst its been at SJP is just a general sense of apathy under Ashley. But even the relegation seasons (i.e. in championship) were pretty brilliant in retrospect and now the place is postively buzzing again, the atomosphere is palpable and its positively joyful. You come away from the match feeling better. I'd say its a pretty unique atmosphere tbh, exceeding anything you'll witness at places like Anfield, Old Trafford, and the Emirates. I reckon this is what really riles the mackems deep down, they know this is true.
-
It's hilarious how their bitterness of us completely blinds them to any objective truth. Many will still argue blind Bruce was a better manager for us than Benitez or Howe. Their football judgement is the worst out of any set of supporters and ALWAYS comes back to bite them on the arse.
-
Mackems finding out the hard way about the Steve Bruce bounce you get once the fat twat leaves a club. Boing boing you mackem twats. Hope you didn't get too cold.

This is where we are at the moment. Freezing temperatures, no wind. 12% of our energy coming from interconnectors, only 4% from wind, meaning we are essentially dependent on France and Norway. Its why we can't rely on wind power to the extent some think we can. When our limited gas reserves are depleted further, we may see black outs if this weather continues. Meanwhile have a look at today's spot price for electricity. We are paying 5 times more than any other country in Europe from what I can see.
-
The Mackem coping strategy is fascinating like. When we were better than them despite being shit ourselves under Ashley, they had to invent this concept of them being more "classy" to cope with the reality of the situation. As far as the cities went, they eventually gave up on claiming Sunderland was a better city, conceding Newcastle held that. But only the city centre, apparently their surrounding suburbs are far superior (despite remarkably being a lot cheaper). Of course you have to take areas like Jesmond, Gosforth out of this made up fact (can't remember why?) and coastal places like Whitburn are definitely in Sunderland but places like Tynemouth are excluded as they are North Tyneside. Then, as the gap between us becomes stratospheric, so has their use of the trump card of morality. However, as we approach the end game, it seems their new coping mechanism is censorship, simply banning people whose opinion does not toe the SMB line. Shame, it used to be a decent forum in all honesty, now it's just descended into insanity.
-
You know come to think of it, I'm sure the sad bastards have this print hanging somewhere prominent in the SoL? Might have been on Sunderland 'til I die I think. @The Fish can do a stadium tour to confirm.

Some of the replies re: Shearer on that thread alone. Add in the countless usernames with FTM or some reference to Shearer being a wanker. Or Barton. Or Benitez. Or Beheady Eddie. Etc. Yet we're the ones being wound up? Honestly, I can barely think of a mackrm player or manager who I even particularly care enough about to dislike. Perhaps Cattermole, was a bit of a twat. Hutchinson, but not because he played for them, he eas just an arsehole. Wasn't a fan of that paedo who played for them or that fascist manager they had, but could scarcely give any of them a seconds thought now. Most my hatred goes to some of our own like Souness and Lee Bowyer if I'm honest. I just find mackems tragically funny.
-
Following Kane's penalty miss, Shearer admitted he still can't forget his penalty that was saved by Sorenson, which was a shit effort tbf. 20 odd years ago now. Naturally this has prompted a gloating thread on the SMB "what a day that was marra. FTM" etc. Usual slightly disturbing vitriol directed against Shearer. This caught my eye though. I mean, imagine investing this much time, money and effort to get one over your "mate"? I love the fact he says how easy we are to wind up at the same time as admitting the lengths he went to to do it. I'd gladly accept the picture, ditch the photo, and use the frame for something else personally.

Sorry, a bit late with this advent calender. Merry Christmas @Monkeys Fist (NSFW) https://boobsadventcalendar.com/ 7th December my favourite day so far.

[Remember lads, ewerk has an ingrained hatred of England, the enemy within if you like, we should do the opposite of everything he says]. To turn your last point on its head, ask yourself, is there a single club in the PL which would employ Southgate as a manager? And of thise that would, is there any expectation they would be successful?
