Yeah, that's probably what I'm doing. Means they're going to miss a day at school but saves about 2k so fuck it.

One of the few I've never done as it happens. Keep meaning to but usually based in the North Lakes so its not well situated for me. Never climbed Sca Fell either (Scafell Pike's sister peak I mean).

Gloomy soon regrets thinking Hard Knott pass was a piece of piss.

There's a pattern emerging here. My friend rolled his car over on Hard Knott pass. This was my view from the top of Jack's rake, the first time on the scramble I could actually get the camera out my hands were shaking that much!

Langdale in general, just not Jack's rake! You can bypass it easily on the right hand side of the pic MF put up to get up the pikes. You've got Crinkle Crags and Bowfell further up the valley which are beautiful, and you'll end up in the Dungion Ghyll pubs still. Some lovely flat walks over to Elter Water or even Grasmere too (and can get the bus back).

"Hello? Is this Fort WIlliam Highland cottages? Change of plan, we need that accomodation back. Oh really? Thank God. It's just possible you have saved our lives".

Honestly, it's all relative, and depend's on each's competence and experience, but I would never attempt Jack's Rake with kids. It's not a typical ridge scramble at all. It fucking terrified me. Half way up, I was surrounded by rope up climbers on a ledge who were doing the face proper. Too late to back down, we had to continue I nearly shat myself through stress on the upper slabs. MF is saying this as a rock climber, it is not trivial for the average Joe and quite a few people have died on it over the years. I wouldn't do it again without ropes.

Santa Eulalia, Ibiza right? I stayed near there once, really liked it. Yeah. Thing is admittedly I live in a prosperous area by NE standards, and lot of my kids peers are still doing two or three foreign holidays a year, including trips to Orlando, skiing etc. I'm not arsed with keeping up with the Jones's but can't understand where the money is coming from, inheritance maybe.

Fine for me. Chrome, Android, S22.

I was exactly the same like. Completely irrational, we fucking hammered them nearly the whole match, but I couldn't just enjoy it. We are a fortress again at home mind. Only lost to Liverpool which was a bit of a freak game tbh. I reckon we can get a 100% record for our remaining home fixtures. Looking forward to Spurs.

That's the thing, the Lakes always makes sense from a practical persective, especially with kids. Closer, better infrastructure and facilities, less extreme mountains (if you're into walking), better weather, and even much less midges for some reason I've never understood. Which is why I just go there. Scotland is still something else mind, wish I'd done more of it prekids cos my joints won't be up for it when I'm kid free unfortunately.

How are people feeling about the cost of holidays nowadays? We use packages because they're just easier and have better insurance coverage. But family holidays that used to cost about 3k just 3 years ago are now costing 7k upwards. I'm just talking about 10 days in a decent hotel in Malorca here, its mental. Honestly don't understand how people can afford it nowadays. I hear the prices in the US are also mental when you get there.

I hope you didn't pay any deposits. And while we're on it, I hope you are going to PAY BACK the advice you wasted.
